Coaching Candidates

Quote:I could only dream of getting Harbaugh. We need a proven coach. 'No more up and coming coordinators who are a wild card.

And no to Haley for imploding at KC. And are people around here really asking for Schwartz, after lamenting the amount of penalties and lack of discipline of this team? Because that's his specialty as evidenced by his years in Detroit.

In addition to what you mentioned regarding Jim Schwartz,   which is right on target,  another major issue with Schwartz in Detroit was his lack of emphasis ( relatively speaking ) on Matthew Stafford's fundamentals/ mechanics.   Considering the current problems with Blake Bortles in this regard that were in evidence in the Oakland game,  at least from my perspective Schwartz doesn't seem like a good fit for Jacksonville.

Sean Payton

Greg Roman - Come on the dude had Kap looking great and look what he did for Tyrod Taylor, plus him and the GM are good buddies

Tom Coughlin ok, the rest, good god son.

Quote:No thanks to Haley dont want a coach who dont get along with a lot of players, he is good only working with QBs

Lol dont have to be a Gus but, Haley has a history of not getting along with players and is a bad HC,

What's wrong with Sean Payton?

Outside of Coughlin he is the only proven winner of a coach we will have a shot at

I think there's at least a realistic chance that Tom Coughlin is hired as the next Jaguars HC,  with Coughlin naming his eventual successor.   With that successor being an Assistant HC.   Similar to some extent what the Colts with Jim Caldwell eventually being named Tony Dungy's eventual successor and becoming an Assistant HC as part of his responsibilities.

Tom Coughlin's history of discipline and his background in helping put the people in place to develop QBs,  not to mention his winning track record,  and familiarity with the Jacksonville market,   makes him very appealing for this position.

At this point, I don't know who I would hire. I do have candidates I would bring in for interviews though. Depending on how they went, I would make a decision based on that. I don't want any coaches who have already failed at running other teams, so I would prefer to hire a coordinator from another team. Here are the guys I would want to talk to.....

George Edwards- Defensive Coordinator for the Vikings

Pete Carmichael Jr.- Offensive Coordinator for the Saints

James Bettcher- Defensive Coordinator for the Cardinals

Rick Dennison- Offensive Coordinator for the Broncos

Bob Sutton- Defensive Coordinator for the Chiefs

Hire Matthew McConnaughey

LET IT RIP

You mean Zimmer? Edwards would be exactly like Gus. He just runs what Zimmer tells him to.

Carmichael I don't mind but he has zero HC experience. I don't think the Jags can hire a coach who hasn't been a HC before. It's not a rebuild anymore. They have no time to waste with a brand new HC.

We gonna run the Veer??

Quote:The guy who went 3-20 with Tennessee?

Or the guy who did pretty good with Arizona. But yeah sure.

Quote:Yeah, I'm betting the shortlist will be Schwartz, Haley, McDaniels, and Patricia.

Would love this short list.

Just give me someone creative and with a modern nfl mindset. Patricia, McDaniels, maybe Haley. It depends on how Bortles finishes out this year. As of right now, demanding Bortles be the starter next season will scare off many candidates.

I hope Khan goes out and gets the best HC. I think he will. Money is no object. Also give the next HC a couple checks to go out and get his OC and DC.

while you're at it, promise the next HC that you'll buy him a small island and name it after him to go along with whatever the money is.

If Bortles was merely playing average, this would be the #1 job in the NFL. There is young talent at every level on this team with a really good GM (I know ppl are down on DC but I'm not). I think he'll learn from the Gus mistake (how many free agents did Gus fool as well) and go get a real coach.

No.  Reason why when Payton was away Car Michael stepped in and the saints played as good if not better for Carr Michael.

Quote:  That's indeed contract.

Chances are Sean Payton will remain with the Saints at least through the 2017 season.   Yet,  so much can happen between now and the off-season.   It's possible that if the Saints need to go into a full rebuilding mode  ( despite Drew Brees' contract extension ),  the Saints and Payton would agree to go in different directions.   Whether this would include trade compensation for Payton is another possible question?

Kevin Sumlin  Head Coach Texas AM.   Has proven to be a winner.  And if go with unknown he may be a good choice for the Jags.

This will be a sought-after job if Bortles does finish the season as "average", but as of right now, he's bottom of the league. Of course, most of it is lack of confidence. We will see if that confidence can be fixed.

What?
