Brunell Inducted Into The Pride...

#21

Quote:He's one of the ones I'm mad about. If anything, he belongs in Canton.. There just isn't enough honor space in the Pride for ole Hayden..

I remember there was a pretty crucial kick in the 4th quarter of a pretty important game, years ago.. I forgot if he was the one who kicked it. Hell I forgot if it was even him that attempted it, but it was crucial and after that kick, Canton started calling.
The only other one possible would be Seth Marler. He could kick a football as if he were kicking a football.

Quote:Mark Brunell. This game was supposed to honor his induction into the pride right? well guess what? he doesn't deserve it. He was just a lucky QB with decent speed and a magical team and city (at the time) backing him. Not to mention, he sold us out on Mike and Mike earlier in the year, remember? I loved Brunell as a player, and I firmly believe that he has easily been our best QB yet. But he doesn't deserve this honor at all, especially after he seemingly had no problem dissing the whole city of Jacksonville and our team just for some national airtime. What a joke. He is no where near worthy of this.
Wow...Mark is the best QB this franchise ever had and deserves to be in the pride. He has always been a class act and loves Jacksonville. What was said on that radio show was taken out of context. I have to think that you must be a very young jag fan to not think he deserved the honor.

When Marler kicks a football, it is no longer on the tee after he has kicked it.

Au-to-ma-tic.

I'm trying to make myself more informed and less opinionated.

Stop saying whatever stupid thing you're talking about and pay attention to all the interesting things I have to say!

While we're on the subject, how about a defensive player.

I was thinking Donovin Darius.

All you need to know about Steve Lindsey is that since he left in 2001 the Jags have never been the same.

Darius would get my vote.

As for Mark Brunell, he helped retire Jim Kelly and Dan Marino. (Jimmy Johnson, too.) Let's not forget how he out-Elwayed Elway in '96... Plus 2 AFC Central Division Titles, Pro Bowler, Pro Bowl MVP...

Not quite sure how what he said could be taken out of context.

Where are they going to keep putting these names up at? Aren't they pretty much out of room already?

When the stadium is upgraded, Brunell's will be moved to the mens bathroom under the South end zone.

Quote:Brunell is by far the greatest qb we have ever had.    However the whole the Jags moving to london thing on a major radio show.    Mistake or not stings and leaves a sour taste in my mouth.    If a guy who bashed his home town can get in.   Why can't Jimmy one of the greatest receivers to ever play in the NFL period.

I dunno about you guys, but I just got a hankering for some double-mint gum :whistling:

Stroud was introduced at the game. I don't think he had a problem with Brunell being in the Ring of Honor. Maybe someday Stroud'll be recognized too.

Doesn't mean you gotta hate on Brunell... Trust me, Brunell did a whole lot more for the Jags then Stroud ever did...

It's not hating, its stating an opinion that you dont think he deserves to be in the ring.  Was he an above average quarterback?  Sure....but he was also surrounded by more offensive weapons than you could imagine.  In my opinion, those players made him better than he really was.

James Stewart, Jimmy Smith, Pete Mitchell...Those were not household names in '95 or '96. Nobody even heard of Jimmy Smith until the playoffs in '96. With Brunell throwing to him that postseason, everybody knew who he was. We didn't surprise anybody the next season and IIRC Denver killed us in '97...

Brunell deserves it.  He was a very talented QB and helped win a ton of games for the Jags.  People forget how fast he was before the knee injury.  Great athelte.

I remember hearing reports of him benching 450lbs on a regular basis.  (playing days)
