These Nuggets from Peter King

#21

We had a rookie owner who got duped by a rookie GM who hired a rookie Head Coach.

Even though some talent was drafted and some pretty successful Free Agents were hired

the rookie and cast off coaches didn't know beans what to do with the talent.

Kept telling themselves it was going to get better....it's gotten worse.

up to Khan to turn this around and no one else.

Best hire he made was Mark Lamping.

Now he needs to do it on the football side.

Having zero expectations next season is the safest way to go.

Gus was the perfect coach for a complete tear down and rebuild do to his positive upbeat demeanor.  I think it was apparent early on that he would never be the guy that "outsmarts" the other coach with x's and o's.

With all of that said.....competent QB play this year and the team has a winning record.  No one in all honesty predicted Bortles' regression.

Gus clearly has to go, but the QB needs to throw spirals too.  The QB problem is just as big as the coach.

Funny that he actually had experience when hired...

I had zero expectations coming into this season, and I was still let down.

Seriously, I made an effort not to post in any of the pre-season prediction threads, I tried to take everything with a grain of salt this year.  I knew that the fact that we kept Gus would be an albatross around our necks.

And yet here I am, completely and utterly dumbfounded by how terrible this team has become.  It's astounding how this coach can take a team to depths that one never thought were possible.

That's a true gift...

Jacksonville’s defense allowed 46.3 percent conversion last year. It’s 46.7 percent this year.

The entire problem is Gus Bradley and the defense. You don't spend 7 draft picks and $150 million on free agents and get WORSE in defense or stay the SAME at 28 ppg allowed.

When the Jags drafted Bortles, A Rob, got Hurns, and Julius, they IMPROVED on offense.

The defense and head coach NEVER improved.

Hindsight is depressing. I dont think the offseason Jags marketing/hype team duped as many people as years past though

Although a lot of us were excited about some of the new players we got.

@samsportsline Gus on Shad: It's a challenging time and he's been unbelievable. He believes in the culture and the process we have here.

But this has me terrified.

But this has me terrified.

It is fair for Gus to assume this since Khan has been so patient with him, but something tells me he is overestimating his generosity with this statement.

Gus won't be here 3 months from now. That's all the owner endorsement you need
Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Exactly. Nothing to be terrified about. Gus doesn't know what the owner is thinking about the current situation.

The owner also said actions speak louder than words, so try not to cherry pick something to get yourself worried about.

@SIRIUSXM .@JawsESPN on #Jaguars: Gutless move & to me it's a failure of Gus Bradley & he makes a scapegoat of Greg Olson. Hate when coaches do that.

Exactly.....no need to worry.

He's mistaking Khan's "I can't fire him yet...I gave my word" for patience.

Can't remember where I saw a tv screen shot pic of Khan and his wife in the box Thursday night's game as the half was winding down and score was 27-0......both their faces and his body language spoke volumes. Trust me he's DONE with gus.

I promise the head hunter is already on the prowl.

You can keep on posting all the tweets you want.  We get it.  You do understand that Gus isn't going to fire himself, right?  So, it's really irrelevant what all your tweets say about the decision.

Glad to see you finally figured out how bad a coach Gus actually is.

Quote:I think this is an apt comparison.  Our scheme puts our strong defensive players in bad situations.  Our offense has playmakers who are hamstrung by bad playcalling.

What I'd give for Andy Reid.
I'd settle for Mularkey by now.

I had a dream that Gus resigned.  Then again, I was the GM in the dream, so I'm not sure it was really based on reality.  Blush

Oh, we also managed to beat out Cleveland for the first pick in the draft.

i don't think so. Browns own the standard of suckiness. we're not far behind, but we're still not the Browns.
