The Patriots wanted Bortles- was #1 QB on draft board

You guys are a JOKE.

I know the Polians.

You're right. Did you know the past 5 years New England has a top 10 scoring defense? They are #3 this year.

Real defense with real coaching.....with LESS defensive talent than the Jags have. All about scheme.

Just an FYI. Shows how poorly coached this franchise is. Bortles was ahead of Manziel, Bridgewater, and Carr on the Pats draft board.

I know for a fact both Bill O'Brien and Belichick had him the #1 QB on the board (both friends of George O'Leary).

Coaching means a lot.

Glad people are so open with a kid regarding their profession.

Bruce Arians was another that wanted Bortles. Dude has the potential, just been poorly coached. It'll take a couple years to fix all of his flaws tjough, especially the elongated throwing motion, if that is even fixable anymore.

I'm curious if it might have something to do with the Pats offense?

Let's see;

Pats offense keeps a solid time of possession.

Pats offense is VERY capable of scoring points and building big leads.

Pats defense can alter their play, especially late in games, to protect their leads andake it difficult to score on.

Nope,

It must not have ANYTHING to do with the Pats offense.

Do they still want him?

Trade Bortles and 2017's & 2018's 1ST RD picks to New England for Josh McDaniels and Jimmy Garropolo. CHAMPIONSHIP!

Since Spacetoast
knows the Polians, several NFL scouting department heads, Borltes Agent and dog walker personally.. All while running a $30 Million dollar international business ... we should ask him.

I don't know if this has been mentioned, but didn't they also want Blaine Gabbert?

Actually I like his insights. So thats one person. But it is tiresome to watch you guys go round and round. But I dont have to read if I dont want. I actually believe SCG about the connections. And I think BB5 would be better with a different staff too.

BB5 needs to step up his game in the 1st quarter tho. Big time.

Yes, it's improvement, but it's Blaine Gabbert 2012 level improvement. - Pirkster

The Patriots ended up with Dominique Easley in that draft.  He isn't even on their team anymore and it's only 2 seasons later.  Couldn't be more of a bust of a pick, so what does that say about their evaluations of anyone else in the 1st round that year?  Derek Carr was still sitting there as were several other good players.  (Hint: The patriots aren't infallible in the draft.  Not only that, but evaulations and articles from 2 years ago really aren't relevant anymore.)

I wonder if they would give us that 3rd rounder they just got from the Browns. :teehee:

They also drafted malcolm brown in the first of their next draft so lets not pretend like this is some automatic confirmation Blake is good.
