Quote:Based on the picture used in the article, he certainly needs it: I'm not a scout, an agent, or even a quarterback coach, but that doesn't look like the form of the best quarterback in the league...lol
What in the Wide Wide World of Sports is agoin' on here???
Quote:Looks like he's about to serve in tennis with that throwing motion He really does. Is that a legal serve? Lol

The site for that group says they also emphasize the mental and physical well being.

I don't see how he will have time to work with anyone since all he does is hang out in the bars...

Quote:Love Monday morning QBs er posters. I wonder if the Jags should have selected Michael Jordan over Sam Bowie. That one really killed us. I'm just going to leave these right here. <a class="bbc_url" href='http://www.nfl.com/draft/2014/profiles/blake-bortles?id=2543477'>http://www.nfl.com/draft/2014/profiles/blake-bortles?id=2543477</a> <a class="bbc_url" href='http://walterfootball.com/scoutingreport2014bbortles.php'>http://walterfootball.com/scoutingreport2014bbortles.php</a> www.sbnation.com/platform/amp/nfl-mock-draft/2014/4/14/5612372/blake-bortles-2014-nfl-draft-scouting-report <a class="bbc_url" href='http://www.nfl.com/draft/2014/profiles/derek-carr?id=2543499'>http://www.nfl.com/draft/2014/profiles/derek-carr?id=2543499</a> <a class="bbc_url" href='https://walterfootball.com/scoutingreport2014dcarr.php'>https://walterfootball.com/scoutingreport2014dcarr.php</a> www.sbnation.com/platform/amp/nfl-mock-draft/2014/4/14/5614326/derek-carr-2014-nfl-draft-scouting-report Now tell me which one has put in the time to hone their craft and which one has been slacking.

Quote:3rd overall pick still needs a mechanics coach in his 3rd year. I wonder if Derek Carr still needs an outside coach to help with his mechanics? For sure. I wonder if Derek Carr still needs an outside coach to help with his mechanics?Tom Brady continues to work with the same group to keep his mechanics optimized. Seems to be working out pretty well for him. Several NFL QBs work with Tom House and his guys on a regular basis. We should rip Bortles for trying to improve, right? Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.
Did anyone see Gary Grambling's column in MMQB last week?
Grambling compared Bortles with (gasp!) Tim Tebow - in the sense that both seem to have decent mechanics during practice but revert to ugliness during games because they are spending so much mental effort trying to figure out defenses the good mechanics fly out the window. He wasn't calling Bortles (or Tebow for that matter) dumb, but he did say different QBs have different time frames for figuring out NFL defenses. He thinks it probably would have helped Bortles to have sat out a year or two. We'll never know. And why do people assume the QB coach didn't try and work on mechanics, even though it may have been fairly brief due to time constraints.
The sun's not yellow, it's chicken.

In Tom Brady's mind he's still the 199th picked player in the 2000 draft. He's worked his tail off in the gym, film room, and works during the offseason to stay at an elite level. He takes his job seriously. Can we say the same about our QB?

Taking it to the top of the Modis building.

I think it's great he's taking this step, and I REALLY hope it results in the huge needed improvements. Yes, I think most professional QBs with a decent work ethic get outside help, just as pro golfers, etc. That is a professional thing to do. All that said, there is some reality we need to consider about the differences of a Tom Brady tuneup (or even some of the best pure passers of all time like a Marino who also did) vs some very low level fundamental redesigns like Bortles was (and is) required to do.

I'll give Bortles a world of credit for acknowledging that something was wrong and bringing in a good QB coach of his own to address it. That's the sign of a guy that gets it, and I hope it gets him back on track within a few weeks.
What does it say about Hackett, though, if his prize QB feels like a hired gun is a better QB coach than Hackett?
I'm wondering if all these guys are lame duck, and promoting Hackett gives him a chance to audition for another team who could be looking for an OC or QB coach in the offseason
Bortles has too meek of a personality to be successful in this league IMO. 3 years in the league and he' still skittish in interviews. The QB position requires big-time leadership. I hope I'm completely wrong.
