I guess I'll be the optimist. I only think we need 3 things to be a division winner. Franchise caliber coaching staff, QB, and one more scary DE. 

 

I think the WRs, RBs, TEs, and 4/5 of the oline are good enough on offense.

 

I think the entire secondary and LBs are good enough assuming Jack develops, and the dline just needs the one top shelf pass rusher. 

 

EDIT: Oh yeah I guess we do need a Roy Miller replacement, but that won't be too hard to find.

People keep saying this, but Khan matter-of-factly stated that he wouldn't be making a coaching change mid-season. 

 

He said it before the season started and he said it again recently.  He's just doing what he said he'd do  -  which is typically a good thing for an owner.

My point is that Khan seems overly-patient (which can be good) but let's say there a few HC candidates (like Bruce Arians when we hired Gus) and Khan essentially gets the 3rd best coaching candidate because 2 other teams fire their coaches before season's end and grab the top 2 candidates.

 

That's what concerns me.  I love most of the things Khan has done up to this point...but in regards to evaluating and dealing with the HC, he has miserably failed.

This team is loaded with genuine talent and potential...find a real HC and we will be in the hunt for the playoffs next year.

I don't buy the whole "this team is loaded with talent" business.

 

I see a bunch of young and unproven guys on an NFL field, some of whom are actually making idiot mistakes that should have been ironed out while at the high school level. Some of them have shown promise, but then again Ryan Leaf did that in his first few games. I don't believe the whole "if we only had a head coach" thing either.

 

My positives are:

The defense plays pretty well when not flat.

We have a roster full of young people, a lot of them brand new. If you are going to suck, it's best to suck YOUNG.
