How would you feel about Fournette in the first?

Quote:I highly doubt Cook makes it to the 2ND round. Cook is on his way to matching his stats last year. Agreed.. Hoping for the Ramsey/Jack miracle We show less advertisements to registered users. Hopefully last night's game will end all the talk on this board about the Jaguars taking Fournette in the 1st round. They will likely be picking 3rd-5th and should have the choice of potentially elite pass-rushers like Garrett or Jonathan Allen. Follow that up with the best offensive linemen in the 2nd and 3rd rounds and this team will have taken significant steps in the right direction. Of course, unless Bortles improves significantly next season this team's playoff dreams will need to be put on hold.

Personally, I believe the pass rush will be better once we find a coach that runs a conventional scheme, rather than this hybrid crap that has never produced for us. I wouldn't even consider a pass rusher until the middle rounds. Our focus has to be on the O-Line and with the very best ones in this class being interior linemen, the best move would be to trade down and add picks. That way we can draft multiple O-Linemen to fill the OG and RT positions. OG's never go early, so if we trade down into the late teens or early 20's, we can still get the cream of the crop. Quote:Man I'd love to have Peppers in the 1st and Cook in the 2nd. What would that accomplish? If Fournette couldn't run behind our O-Line, Cook certainly couldn't.
Quote:Trust me man I would love to have that happen. I'm actually starting to think Cook goes before LF7 now. If D'onta Foreman of Texas enters the draft, he'll be the first RB off the board. This kid is a beast, but he's a Junior and may wait until 2018. He is huge and has that 2nd gear that very few men of his size possess. Something tells me he'll stay in school, but if I'm wrong, I'd snatch this kid up in a heartbeat. He's like a mixture of Earl Campbell and Fred Taylor.

A conventional scheme isn't going to make Fowler any better as a pass-rusher. Yannick is a nice piece, but he's not a primary guy. Garrett, Williams, Lawson, Charles Harris are all by far better rushers than he is even now. Stick Dante at SAM and get a guy who has actually shown he can rush the passer well. And let's be real here, Dave hasn't traded down once his entire time here, so that's all just wishful thinking at this point.

Maybe Dave won't be here by the time the draft rolls around. What do yo think about that? I'm all for moving Dante to OLB. I've been saying that ever since we drafted him, but I believe we can find a good pass rusher in the middle rounds once we open up and look at true DE's and not restrict ourselves to these smallish DE/LB hybrids that we tried to fit in this ridiculous scheme. We have to fix the offense first and that is gonna start up front. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Quote:Where do y'all think Peppers will be best in the NFL ? I truly don't know. We'd need him to play in the secondary though. I'm just not sure if that's where he should be. He's a very versatile athlete.

Shad's been running the Jags in the complete opposite of how he's run Fulham, so Dave'll more than likely have a shorter leash after this next coaching hire. The DE/OLB hybrids are the ones that are racking up the sacks/QB pressures, so regardless of scheme, ignoring them would be insane. The guys at the top of this pass-rusher class can actually do the things that Dante can't and I'd rather bank on that than gamble that a 4th/5th rounder will play above his draft position. He could even add 10lbs and I don't think he'd lose any of that speed. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!

Those DE/OLB types are fine if you run a 3-4 scheme or if you actually have a coach who knows how to utilize a 4-3 hybrid scheme, but I'm going under the assumption that we will probably run a conventional 4-3 scheme next season with a new head coach.
Peppers doesn't force turnovers soo idk how great of an impact player he would be. He's good at tackling buuut so are alot of college SS

He's like a mixture of Earl Campbell and Fred Taylor. I'll admit I had not heard of Foreman as I haven't caught any Texas games this year. Just started watching some of his game cut ups and I am impressed. His body type reminds me of Lacy, crazy that a big game can move like that. He was asked where he will be this time next year and he said Texas but apparently he will wait till the end of the year to see where the NFL advisory board thinks he will get drafted.

These hybrids are big enough to hold up in a normal 4-3 and they are generally far and away the best, most talented edge-rushers coming into the league. Ignoring that by hoping to score a guy like the Minnesota DEs hoping they develop the same way would be pretty stupid. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
This is why I am against Fournette in the first.
Jay Ajayi- Round 3 David Johnson- Round 3 Telvin Coleman- Round 3 Devonta Freeman- Round 4 Lamar Miller- Round 3 Demarco Murray- Round 4 Jamaal Charles- Round 3 Spencer Ware- Round 6 Jordan Howard- Round 5 Isiah Crowell- Undrafted
My mock.
1) Jon Allen - Alabama. Incredible Dline player with very few holes his game. I can't see any reason why this would be a bad pick. 2) Take the best OLine guy available. Have no idea who that is at the momemt . 3) Best S/CB available, safety and cornerback is really deep this year, similar to the 2014 WR class. Could get a 1st round talent here in the third.
Fournette looks good every season and then faces Bama.
Bama's D line is about as pro ready every season as any... I'm thinking no to spending high draft pick on RB. (I like the Elijah Hood kid as maybe a 2nd round pick if you're intent on replacing Ivory or Yeldon already. I think RB isn't a problem, O-line and blocking scheme combined with mediocre to bad QB play leading to stacked boxes) |
