Hurns

#21

Hurns has probably been our most consistent player on offense up to this point, whatever that's worth. Like Anchorman said, he was laid out to dry today and tbh it's been going on all season. Blake's been putting everyone in a bad spot, but I think Hurns has definitely got it the worst.

Silly thread.

Yeah, cause that's what I said.

All I was getting at was we paid him after one good season. 10mil/year WRs shouldn't be dropping passes like the one he did. Add in the injuries and it's cause for concern.

To me its more the offense's inability to find the right combination of Thomas, Lee, Hurns, Lewis.  Seems defenses have wizened up to his double moves and he keeps dropping or being missed on the quick hitters.  In my opinion Hurns and Robinson haven't been as physical as they need to be and corners are roughing them up.  Lee and Benn are the only receivers who have stepped their physicality up.

Go Jags!
*To stay up for atleast 2 years 3/6/17
2016 draft players I think will be good
  • On the Fournette train, will be best back of his class 3/6/17
  • Lattimore please,  Lockdowns on both sides would be nice
  • Engram at TE and the MJD clone Samaje Perine

We paid too soon on Hurns for sure. I still think we were better off drafting Cooper and hoping for Lee to stay healthy. Now this team is essentially stuck down the road between trying to resign Lee and Robinson who are potentially more productive. I am not seeing the same effort, hustle and consistency from him at all.

Hackett called a good [BLEEP] game today. They've got eight more games to hopefully get the led out of their [BLEEP] but right now, yes, we totally paid too much way too soon. People forget Hurns as a rookie was playing in Fisch's system. It's easier to produce. And we were playing from behind last year. I think his statistics are inflated.

He also is the guy taking the huge shots going in the middle and hanging onto the ball for the most part.

That what it looks like to me too corners are being more physical with them for sure and being allowed to even down the field at times.

I've seen him hang on after some nasty shots this year.  He has the most receiving yards on the team.  The entire offence looks bad right now and he had his worst game today.  He'll be fine.

Hurns is a heart and soul player. Bad games like this week are rare for him. Did we pay too early, who knows, probably not. It's not like when Gene Smith paid Mike friggin Thomas haha

So our leading reciever is for the season so far... Allen Hurns with 31 recept for 443 yards and 2 TD, followed by Allen Robinson with 39 reception for 442 yards and 4 TD, and Marquise Lee with 34 Rec for 442 yards and no TDs.

Hurns has the least targets also. But yeah hes a bum those other two are much better...

Yes, it's improvement, but it's Blaine Gabbert 2012 level improvement. - Pirkster

Here is his problem. Blake Bortles is throwing the ball to him. Get a respectable QB in here with Lee, Hurns, and AR15 and I bet you all of their numbers would be better than they are 9 games through this year. These guys are probably sick of Blake, even if they support him I know deep down they wish he was better, or they had a better QB. We are wasting our WR talent every down Blake is out on the field. We need a QB in FA this year, and draft one or groom Allen with a QB savvy coaching staff(next year).

Robinson has been catching only 45% of his targets this year also. Today it was 6/15, I think Blake forcing th ball to him is limiting the other guys

(This post was last modified: 11-07-2016, 02:08 AM by RedRooster28.)

3 receivers on pace for 900 yards each with our QB play this year, and the ill-timed dropsies we've had this year.

Huh. Kind of encouraging I guess.

Only 5 teams have ever had 3 1,000 yard WRs in a season from my admittedly brief google-search research.

Dude, if we had even the slightest bit of ability from our QB our WRs would be in the discussion for best WR corps in the entire league.  No doubt in my mind.  All 3 of those guys are legit players, now that Lee has stepped up his game.

It's a real shame BB5 regressed so much this season.  We really could have been a contender this year.

Without a viable passer...

Graver than sane minds may want to profess.  As plenty have said, a royal mess nunc.  Do we have a passer?  We laughed at them other boys back in the day,  They at least seemed to see.  This one, can't see...the game.  Winning is an art form...

I want to believe we do.  I do.  He is better than all of em that have walked through Alltel, er Bank, to me.  But the dimmest, thus far, to me, of those that mattered.  I just don't know.  That's my dilemma.

Oh, this is about Hurns, er him.  Well undrafted is undrafted.  He is an effort guy, he will catch em, he may drop em.  He's bailed him, he'll let him down too.  Tis team.  We don't have one.

Success is a journey, not a destination.  Go all out Mighty Jaguars.

We would be the class of the afc south by far, and may have challenged for the number 2 seed with a good QB. Blake was supposed to be that guy. Sad really, but there is still time to get the right guy in with the wrs we have.

We are scrapping the bottom of the barrel on our discussion boards now.  These are young guys and right now there is nothing fun happening with this team.
