Blandino's goal line fumble review

Horrible call.

In the grand scheme of the season, none.  But what does that matter?  The call was blown.

I just re-watched it several times and I don't see how they could have possibly blown that calling using the goal line view.

Quote:Mike Pereira says of course the refs have/use freeze frame on reviews.

Thank you, we were screwed over

Even the freeze frame where we see Ivory with the ball across the line, he is way past the line, but for it to be a TD only the tip of the ball has hit the line, so if he got that far with the ball still looking to be in his hand there is no way the ball was coming lose when the tip of the ball hit the line. Like Jeff said on the radio this morning refs need to use common sense.

I agree. Like another post said also, the ball never turns or spins or even has the slightest change or trajectory from his hand until it's almost completely over the goaline.

Quote:I don't even understand what there is to argue about. I see people in here saying it wasn't clear. It was clear when the entire ball was across the plane, so if he had posession of it when it was completely across the plane, is it not safe to assume he DEFINITELY had possession of it when the nose of the ball first broke the plane?

Argue about semantics all you want, but plenty of teams would have had that called in their favor.

I don't recall anyone saying it wasn't a TD.  The debate is whether the refs where right to not overturn it.  If you go by the letter of the rule book, you need indisputable proof on the replay that the call should be overturned before it can be overturned.  The refs have made plenty of mistakes against us this year, but that wasn't one.

I'm condescending. That means I talk down to you.

Quote:Am I the only one who was disappointed when Marqise didn't get into the endzone on his long catch? Instead of celebrating an awesome play, I just turned to my wife and said "oh great, we will screw this up. 3 points here if we are lucky."
This. I just knew that we would find a way to [BLEEP] it all up. He somehow steps out of bounds when the end zone is right in front of him, any other team would've turned that into a TD.

Nobody said it was not a TD. It was all about the inability to see indisputable visual evidence unless you are looking at a frozen frame on CBS. Because referees now get help from Manhattan I think it was ridiculous that only people watching the game at home saw it. If the referee or anybody at the NFL headquarters is allowed to freeze it, why didn't they do that?

Maybe you should watch the explanation of why they didn't overturn it. Because, you know, it addresses this point explicitly.

I turned my speakers on. No sound came out. So there is no explanation - just a silent movie.

Maybe you have gone deaf and just don't know it yet.

No I haven't. Every two years I get my hearing tested so I know when it gets worse.

Well I was at the game and I can tell you we all saw it on the big screen. Even some of the KC fans told me they thought it was a TD. There is no excuse, but it didn't surprise me.

And it was frozen and we saw a view from in front of him also.

Were you wearing a Jaguars jersey? I saw Brunell, Bortles, Ramsey, and Robinson jerseys on TV and wondered if one of those guys was a forum poster.

There was definitely no excuse for the call not to be overturned.
