State of Florida 2016 Ballot Measures

Quote:Here's quick a argument regarding the subject of marijuana abuse. As a medical professional, how many people have you seen that regularly abuse opioids as a result of being prescribed them by a licensed doctor?Because it cuts into the massive profits for the pharmaceutical industry? Same reason vaping has been targeted so hard by them. Not that this is the poster's opinion but it is definitely the case. We show less advertisements to registered users. Quote:I 100% respect your opinion and position on the matter. The only problem I have with this argument people use is it's the same argument that was used in against alcohol. When alcohol is far more damaging to the body yet is regulated and completely legal. Not to imply people that share your opinion actively support alcohol of course, just saying it's not hard to see the similarities between the banning of pot and the banning of booze in the past. IMO, it's the single best argument for legalizing it.I would vote against alcohol if I had an option to. I agree with your sentiment. But what is done is done and I am not under a special burden to try and remove every vice from every person. It won't work. Yes, it's improvement, but it's Blaine Gabbert 2012 level improvement. - Pirkster The Home Hypnotist! Media on the Brain Link! Quote:Peyton must store oxygen in that forehead of his. Quote:Here's quick a argument regarding the subject of marijuana abuse. As a medical professional, how many people have you seen that regularly abuse opioids as a result of being prescribed them by a licensed doctor? I agree with this argument, and that's why I voted for Medical Marijuana in 2014 when I was in Florida and it was on the ballot. Although many people who abuse opiods at this point are no longer getting it prescribed, but rather off the street. The narcotics databases have cut down on overperscription quite a bit. Plus all the 'pill mills' that get busted. Pain medicine is a booming business, but its not done how it was ten years ago, there is quite a large push to get away from giant doses of morphine/fentnyl/dilaudid etc. But yes, I wouldn't ban all pain meds even if I could, because they do have a legit medical use. I certainly wouldn't support people being able to get narcotics without a prescription tho just cause they like how they feel. Yes, it's improvement, but it's Blaine Gabbert 2012 level improvement. - Pirkster The Home Hypnotist! Media on the Brain Link! Quote:Peyton must store oxygen in that forehead of his. The problem with alcohol is people can easily get it almost anywhere with only an ID card. I grew up in the city that started the Prohibition Movement, triggering creation and passage of the 18th Amendment. Westerville, Ohio was named the "dry capital of the world" after that. If a business or restaurant wants to sell alcohol, it must put an issue on the ballot in that precinct. They even have to create separate issues for things like Sunday sales and delivery.
Marijuana OTOH is much easier to control because it is a prescription-only drug. Nobody can be impaired while driving home after smoking the stuff because it is not for recreational use.

It's legal for recreational in several states right now and many more coming soon. Also people take their prescription meds and drive all the time. So yes plenty of people are impaired while driving with alcohol, weed, and with Rx meds. You are on a roll being wrong today and in so many threads. What about other prescription drugs that are known to cause impaired driving? We are only talking about Florida here, not any state that allows recreational marijuana use. I don't know why you bring up other states.

I use cannabis daily to manage three specific symptoms related to my medical condition. Opoids help with 2, but not as well and are too addictive, and I've found nothing that helps with the third. I have no scientific evidence supporting my experience, but from what my friends with the same condition tell me, as well as anecdotes I've read in forums and publications, I feel confident I'm using the best medicine available for my needs.
It is crazy what I must go through to get such an effective, relatively harmless substance. Heck, if the state laws against growing here weren't so draconian, I could keep myself supplied for life.

Surely you understand that marijuana for recreational use is readily available just about everywhere? The laws against it do not stop it's distribution and use. All the anti-marijuana laws do is serve to protect the profits of the drug lords. "Why should I give information to you when all you want to do is find something wrong with it?" |
