What I would like to see is this movement that is forming between the Bernie wing progressives to push for someone like Keith Ellison to take over. What people have been suggesting should happen with the RNC is what needs to happen with the DNC. The old guard line towers need to go and the party needs to reinvent itself if it wants to survive. 

 

Popular with her own party.  Otherwise, I personally find her extremely divisive.  She's got the same elitist disdain for those who disagree with her as her husband has.

 

But I completely agree re: the GOP.  They need to reinvent the same way Democrats did in the late 90s, early 00s.

What's worse is if the emails weren't produced, we'd know nothing about the scheme.  She still would have gotten the nomination, and no one would have been fired.  Who knows what difference a successful coverup would have made in the eyes of independent voters (or even Bernie voters.)

 

If people thought she won it fair and square, would they have been more apt to vote for her?  Possibly.

 

Still, the scariest part to me is those who are completely ok with what was done to produce her as the candidate and still back a party and candidate that did such a thing.

 

The GOP establishment was against Trump, but they didn't sabotage his run as the DNC did with Bernie.

 

I don't care what your beliefs are or how dedicated you are to a particular cause or party - I would lose all trust in a party that acted that way (and I don't fully trust either party to begin with.)

  Right now,  Michelle Obama might want to take a step back.   Yet,  in a couple of years,   if there are many on the left calling for her to run and it looks like there's a very realistic opportunity for the Democrats to win the 2020 Election with a unifying on the left candidate,  I think she's going to be very tempted to run.

 

 Keith Ellison certainly appeals to a large number of far left progressives.  Whether he would get enough support from the Blue Dog / closer to the middle Democrats remains to be seen.   I have at least some doubts.

As for the bolded, just like with the certain camp of the right not caring what the moderate/establishment GOP thinks the far left progressives as you say don't care what the moderate/blue dogs see is being a good strategy moving forward. Their strategy has been garbage. If it wasn't for the incredibly charismatic and eqloquent Obama that suggested to the left that he was something he wasn't in 2008 they would have just rolled on with the same old same old and more and more of the dem party are sick of it. They see an opportunity to take the party over like the tea party tried to do with the GOP.

Heck yeah it is and I say it's about damn time, I just wish they would keep it civil. Everyone was told it would be the trump supporters doing this if he lost and maybe that would have been true but it's good see the progressive left not sitting done like a bunch of wimps like the DNC cronies have done for decades. I don't often agree with the right on ideals but one thing I do agree with is they fight for what they believe in. I'm all for compromise but when your identity is on the line you can't compromise with that.

Trump did talk about abortion he said his SCOTUS noms would have a litmus test. All trump needed to say about gays was that Mike Pence was his running mate. He's pretty far from neutral on LGBT rights.

They believe:

 

1. Illegal aliens are here illegally.
2. Pro-domestic employment is indispensable.
3. A strong military is essential.
4. Special interests must be eliminated.
5. Gun ownership is sacred.
6. Government must be downsized.
7. The national budget must be balanced.
8. Deficit spending must end.
9. Bailout and stimulus plans are illegal.
10. Reducing personal income taxes is a must.
11. Reducing business income taxes is mandatory.
12. Political offices must be available to average citizens.
13. Intrusive government must be stopped.
14. English as our core language is required.
15. Traditional family values are encouraged.
 

It's fine to agree or disagree with these beliefs, but they are anything but extreme views.

Shutting down the government because you don't get your way is pretty extreme. Especially considering their was to burn the whole thing down. From the perspective of people who don't see the government as evil that is extreme.

I can understand why you would think doing so is extreme, but unfortunately it's necessary.

 

That's not a Tea Party principle, and they weren't the first to do or suggest it.

 

You shouldn't have to use such measures to force the people who are supposed to be acting in our best interest to do their jobs.  That was the extreme part - dereliction of duty, not the measures taken to correct the matter.
