Coaching Candidates

Quote:Obviously and that's never been an issue. I don't care that he disagrees. It's clear it was the wrong choice.not to Khan and that's all that matters...He doesn't give a rats [BLEEP] if you or anyone else or everyone else thinks his approach is wrong,he doesn't think so and his opinion is the only one that matters or counts We show less advertisements to registered users. What about Marvin Lewis? I wonder if he could finally be let go if he doesn't make the playoffs this season.

I suggested that like 8 pages ago. I'm down. Plus we know he knows how to hire good coordinators. 3 of his pupils are now current head coaches.

Too many pages. lol Quote:What about Marvin Lewis? I wonder if he could finally be let go if he doesn't make the playoffs this season. Quote:I suggested that like 8 pages ago. I'm down. One added benefit regarding Marvin Lewis that often is overlooked is his skill in evaluating college personnel and choosing Assistant Coaches that are also highly skilled in this. The Bengals probably have the smallest scouting staff in the NFL. Their draft preparation is greatly dependent on the work their coaches do in the off-season leading up to the draft. The Bengals have been one of the best drafting teams since Lewis became their HC in 2003.
Yes to Marvin Lewis!
Also what do you guys think of the Chiefs defensive coordinator Bob Sutton? I'd prefer a guy with NFL head coaching experience but if that can't be done then I'd much rather him over the likes of Sean McDermott. We show less advertisements to registered users. But I will be surprised if he's ever an NFL HC, unless it's an Interim situatiob. Quote: The # 1 obstacle by far for Bob Sutton to become a first time NFL HC is his age. He's already 65. You are right that may prove too big of a barrier. While we are talking about Chiefs coordinators what do you think of their special teams coach Dave Toub as a potential dark horse HC candidate? Here's two articles about him just as a quick overview. http://www.nationalfootballpost.com/why-dave-toub-deserves-a-head-coaching-job/ http://www.scout.com/nfl/chiefs/story/1558139-the-mastery-of-dave-toub Quote:I thought he was only 60 or so. You are right that may prove too big of a barrier. I'm not sure one way or the other if Dave Toub would be a good NFL HC choice. But when Toub was the Bears Special Teams Coach, I thought he did an excellent job. One of the best in the business in that role in all facets of Special Teams play.. Most seasons, I see around 8 to 10 Bears games. I watch much less Chiefs games. Yet, the fact that he's been praised for the job he's doing in Kansas City doesn't surprise me in the least after seeing what he did with Chicago.
It's pretty rare for a special teams guy becoming a head coach. The only one that comes to mind is John Harbaugh.

Another one was the late Frank Gansz Sr., who was the HC of the Chiefs in the late 1980's for a couple of seasons. Outstanding Special Teams Coach. He was in that role with the Jaguars under Tom Coughlin late in his coaching career.
These are still my top candidates.

George Edwards- Defensive Coordinator for the Vikings
Pete Carmichael Jr.- Offensive Coordinator for the Saints
James Bettcher- Defensive Coordinator for the Cardinals
Rick Dennison- Offensive Coordinator for the Broncos
Bob Sutton- Defensive Coordinator for the Chiefs
I still like kicking around the idea of Miles, formerly of LSU.
I know that he's unconventional, but he has always seemed to have his head on straight when it comes to a football team. He has NFL experience and he has had some damn fine coaches work under him in the past, I'll slap a list at the bottom of this post to prove my point. I'm just betting that he'd be able to pull some quality assistants to come work with him. On a side note, I've always been a fan of Monken. Maybe Les could get him here to be the OC, although I doubt he'd leave his own gig to do that.
I'm trying to make myself more informed and less opinionated.
Stop saying whatever stupid thing you're talking about and pay attention to all the interesting things I have to say!
Mike McCarthy when he's fired from Green Bay.
I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

Quote:If he does get fired, (which would surprise me), he'd jump to the top of my list. I had a conversation last night with a Green Bay fan regarding McCarthy. His words were "I basically built the anti-McCarthy bus and I'm still driving it." Guy was not a fan of his at all, even after the Super Bowl win. Not saying that one man's opinion makes for fact, but it does bear considering.
