Marqise Lee = Replacement level?

He may be the best receiver on the roster by season's end.

Quote:Do you not agree that David Caldwell has "missed" more than he's "hit"? Both in the draft and free agency, in the years 2013-2015 he brought in 46 players, there's a strong argument to be made that only 6 of those guys have been "hits", that's god-awful.

I need to see how it compares to other GMs before you said it's God-awful.

Firing Gus and possibly Caldwell is the first place we should start.

Honestly I would love to see this kind of break down for the 5 GM's that are considered to be the top in the NFL then compare the amounts of hits and misses to Caldwell. I honestly think seeing where he stacks up against the best would be a better gauge of if we have a good GM or just another loser.

Breakdown? It's one guy's opinion.

Quote:And tabbing fowler as a miss when he's played half a season in his nfl career is also dumb.
The whole article is horse doodoo. Half the players they have as replacement level or miss are perfectly fine players.

Cyprien grading out as a yop 10 safety? REPLACE HIM QUICK.

Marqise Lee making plays all over the field? GUYS WE SHOULD REPLACE HIM

BCC has a narrative and they'll stick to it.

Having guys like McCray as "miss" is beyond ridiculous. Only 21% of 7th round picks make it to a 4th year with the team that drafted them. The fact that McCray stuck around for 3 seasons and was a decent starter for a while was a hit. 7th round picks don't tend to be franchise players.

Quote:I'll be pretty shocked (maybe a little too strong of a word) if Dave is not here next year along with a new head coach.  If he fails with another coach...well then "stuff" happens.
To me, the only way I dump Caldwell along with Bradley is if we go after a high profile head coach who wants say in personnel matters (a Gruden or a Shanahan).

Otherwise, I dump Bradley, keep Caldwell, let him bring in another coach and try to get it right.

Worst to 1st.  Curse Reversed!

I agree with the premise of the article but you are right the hits and misses are pretty stupid.

Hurns should be on this list as a hit. And Marqise Lee is better than replacement level at this point.

Yes, it's improvement, but it's Blaine Gabbert 2012 level improvement. - Pirkster

Ok yes I get that and we won't agree with all the misses and hits for the most part it's fairly close. My whole thing is I want to see Caldwell actually compared to other top GM's picks

So what's the assumed reasonable expectation here then?  Perfection?  That a GM it suppose to "hit" on every single draft pick and Free Agency acquisition?  Without context and comparison to other league GMs this info is worthless.

The most important decision a GM ever has to make is hiring the head coach. Caldwell failed at this worse than any GM in the history of the NFL has.

The second most important decision a GM ever has to make is when he picks a QB in the top 5/10. It looks like he has missed on that too with Bortles.

Here's my two cents on the coaching versus talent idea: When I look at our defense this year the five most talented/biggest contributors are, in my opinion; Ramsey, Amukamara, Jackson, Ngakoue and Posluszny. Four of those have are in their first year with the Jaguars and Poz is in his tenth season in the league and by all accounts essentially a coach on the field. So of the five best players on the defense, four have received the least amount of coaching from this staff and the fifth essentially doesn't need coaching. Yikes.
