i dont know why anybody would doubt its truthfulness.  what candidate wouldn't get angry when they lose?

 

this is like accusing somebody of having a curse laden tirade while watching their favorite football team get destroyed.  it happens.  it doesn't matter. everybody does it.

 

You're talking about a little old lady getting drunk and throwing things.   You're talking about a major party nominee getting drunk on election night and getting violent.  You're talking about a story from a very obscure person who has an agenda, and will not name his sources.   

 

You wouldn't doubt the truthfulness of that story?   I sure would. 

 

But maybe it just fits your own narrative of who she is.  You see what you're doing?   You buy it because you want to.   Regardless of whether it's true or not.  

 

This is what's happening to this country.  Left and right, we're all being led by the nose by people who know our predispositions and feed into them.   They tell us what we want to hear.   And you just bought it.  Because it rings true to you.  This is how a country is lost to demagogues.

Frankly, after reading this "Politics" section for a couple of years, it's hard to tell.  There's so much pure fantasy being published these days, and people lap it up.   It makes me nostalgic for the good old days when we had one source of news: Walter Cronkite.  You got a half hour, and that was it.  We didn't get this fire hose spewing all sorts of nonsense and people having no sense of when they're being intentionally misled. 

I've thought about this very thing the last year or so. I told my husband yesterday it was a much quieter world when we got the news from the 6pm news and newspapers. Now anyone can report the 'news'. Like the aspiring meteorologist guy who was recently arrested in Kentucky for setting a forest fire to report 'news' of the fire on his Facebook page with video and everything. 

 

I remember when the only thing we knew about celebrities was what we read in Teen Beat and those magazines. Now we know stuff we would rather not, whether it comes from them or TMZ. I think the internet is a very useful thing but it gets abused quite regular.

Knowing the details of a political system is not a measure of intelligence, but it is a measure of being prepared for the job.  It's pretty amazing the guy got as far as he did without knowing what it really meant to be President of the United States.  He doesn't have a whole lot of time to get up and running, so I hope he's as intelligent as you say he is.
