I have an opinion that is NOT going to be popular. AT ALL

Quote:Our defense can't be that good. That would mean Bortles would be winning since he only sucks because of our bad defense.

Speaking of that, where's spacecoastjag? Haven't seen him around lately.

Quote:Apparently....we have the 12tg ranked defense.

And now that Hackett is calling better plays....

I believe we are very close to where we thought we were at the beginning of the season...

On the cusp of winning a LOT of games.

( Bortles is the key to this. He improves his play= we win games)

I also believe if we do " turn the corner" and start winning...

Bradley will be our coach next year.

And we will do next year what we should have done this year...

Be in contention for tge division title.

Comments? Objectively PLEASE?

This shouldn't be so unpopular. You said, "if we start winning," and I totally agree. I look at the remaining schedule and there is not a game on there you can say should be a win. With that said, my current prediction for the team is 5-11, and at that point I do think Gus is really gone. But, if the team really starts winning against this particular remaining schedule, and say ends up 7-9... there's no way Gus is leaving. But do you really see that happening. Before answering unless you already know it, take a look at the remaining schedule.

Well according to Khan, 5-11 won't cut it. And neither will 7-9.

Quote:While the Jaguars' owner didn't offer a specific number of victories he expects during the 2016 season, he did say during the 2016 State of the Franchise at EverBank Field Friday that he expects more victories than losses.

A winning season? Is that a fair expectation?

"I think it's everybody's reasonable expectation at this point,"
Khan told reporters, adding of how he will evaluate 2016: "I think obviously better than 5-11. I think we want to have a team that is sustainable. We've spent time, patience and investment to build a solid foundation that's going to last for a long time.

7-9 is obviously better than 5-11. ...this much is even more obvious when you consider who we play in these last six games.

I'm predicting a Jaguars victory in Buffalo this weekend just to reach 5-11, but keep in mind the Bills lead the league in rushing, and they have a pass rusher tied for the lead in sacks. Granted, as I said, Gus is probably gone at 5-11. But I'll bet you he sticks around at 7-9.

Khan says a reasonable expectation is a winning season. I'm assuming reasonable implies no major oddities such as a rash of injuries to most of our starters and of that sort.

7-9 isn't a winning season.

The only way Gus stays with a 7-9 season is if the Jags make the playoffs and even then he would probably need to at least win a game in the playoffs to secure his job.

We won't win another game, we suck. Bills are an aggressive team, Broncos are defending champs, Vikings will rebound against us, and then our divisional opponents are hungry to get 1st place. Goodbye Gussy.

MissJagsfanatic?

You're letting a few words cloud sound logic. Going 7-9 means finishing the season with a 5-1 mark in the final six games all against Playoff contending teams. Gus would suddenly be a local hero if that happens, and I guarantee you that Khan won't be thinking about firing Gus.

The fact that we are even having this conversation shows how much of a joke this franchise has become

Hahahaha

Some of you talking 7-9?!

I know it's all hypothetical but come on. Why even go there? It's not happening. Gus has never beaten a team that has finished the season with a winning record. I see more than a few of those left.

I guarantee you the majority of fans will still want Gus gone with a 7-9 record. Local hero? That's laughable. If Gus ceiling is 7-9, I wonder what a real coach could do with the same roster. 10 wins? 11? 12?

That's your opinion and I wish that I could buy into it, but at this point I don't see the Jags turning it around this season. Bortles quarterback performance is not going to miraculously improve over night, if ever. Gus is what he has proven himself to be here. All the cheery, motivational talk in the world doesn't change the fact that, percentage wise, he is perhaps the losing-est coach in the history of the NFL! He may very well be a very likable person, but the bottom line is the teams record with him here four years... and it has been abysmally bad.

...Next candidate please.

Perhaps there will still be a few delusional fans thinking Gus is gone even with a 7-9 record, but most fans along with Khan will be loving Gus if the Jaguars knock off five of six playoff contenders from here on out.

Speaking of that, where's spacecoastjag? Haven't seen him around lately.

Lol! spacecoastjag's arguments for Blake and against the defense/running game has been blown out of the water over the course of the past 3 to 4 games.

The Jags have been losing due to: Pick 6's, the offense's inability to sustain very many drives (greatly due to BB's inaccuracy), special teams gaffes, turnovers.

Space's main argument "PPG allowed by the defense" has been shot down. The PPG against the Jags have not been that bad at all. The defense has held very well in that regard. Pick-6's and special teams returns have pushed the total PPG up.

There's no way he can avoid hearing the announcers each week criticize Bortles and say that the defense is playing well and the offense needs to do something to help them out.

But, don't worry. The very next game that Bortles seems to do well (no pick-6's, and some garbage time stats), and the defense struggles, spacecoastjag will be right here to crow about it some more.

He's just been put on hold by the evidence against him lately. Hahahajahajahahahaha!
