NFL scouts are still hoping Oregon redshirt sophomore QB Marcus Mariota changes his mind and declares for the draft, according to National Football Post's Len Pasquarelli.


"Mariota said through a university spokesman his stance hasn’t changed, but scouts have not stopped evaluating him, in case he does flip-flop and opt to make himself available in the draft," Pasquarelli writes. We continue to say that too many have the story wrong regarding Mariota requesting an evaluation from the NFL. This was not a new decision, in fact it occurred after Oregon faced Oregon State. While waiting for a response, Mariota decided he would return for the 2014 season. He will not be changing his mind.

This one is iffy. Im not sure why he would go back to school, would go in the top five of the draft. If he was going to stay until we graduated I would stand by his choice, but he will more than likely come out early anyway. I understand he may want a degree and I do applaud him for that. Having a degree is becoming rare today. He can always go back after or during his NFL career. Either way it's this young man's choice and future and I stand behind him either way. However, would be awesome if we took him if Teddy is off the board

College credits don't disappear as soon as you leave. He can also spend some of his millions to go back for a semester or two and finish his degree whenever he wants. He can even probably manage to do it outside of football while in the NFL.

Maybe money isn't as important to him as his education. It's easy for others to tell him what should be important to him, but the bottom line is that his opinion is the only one that matters.

 

A degree and an education is one of the few things in life that NOBODY can ever take from you. It can't be lost to investment, stolen, or otherwise misplaced. You can't say that for many things in life.

 

Maybe he is deeper than many of you give him credit for.
