I believe in the right of an employer to terminate their employees. Not sure why you wouldn't want that.

I was just trying to help make America great again! Forget it, I'll try and fit in better.

Down with poor people and immigrants. Up with businessmen who have inherited their wealth.

How cool. (going to Cuba, not that snog thing, whatever it is). Is there much to do there and were you limited to where you could go?

Again, the best social program for poor people is a job, no poor man ever gave me a paycheck, and we really like legal immigrants.

Wouldn't it be great if people who worked a job weren't still poor? Save the government a lot of money.

It would, but, again, poor is subjective. Everyone can't be rich, even in a society as great as ours someone still has to cook the fries because everyone does not have equal skills, talent, intellect or worth, and no system of man will ever make it so.

I'm saying the system is broke when the government needs to pay money to people on top of their Walmart wage.

We aren't all born equal either, be great to help those with talent more than those with rich parents.

Samantha Miels and her husband live in Townsville with their three children (two in primary school, one in high school) and eight pets. Her husband earns $52,000 a year while she receives $17,000 in government support from family tax A and B and rent assistance. Ms Miels said her family now rents a nice place because of the National Rental Assistance Scheme.

Quote:You don't mind the nurses coming together in a union to negotiate better pay?

The problem with unions is that they just switch the abuser from the administration to the 'union leadership.' Undoubtedly unions have had some positive impact in nursing in the US and Australia with the ratios etc, but they also take their members money and spend it on things that have nothing to do with nursing (like CNA supporting Bernie). I know why they are here and why they are formed, but at the end of the day they are abusing the system themselves. They just help the worker out a little so we like them better.

Agree that this is the mentality of hospital administration in many hospitals. Even faith based ones, which is very saddening to me.

The doctor deserves to get paid more for his years of training, but the Administration saying they need to make more than anyone else? Sorry I don't agree. You have described exactly why unions are formed. Unfortunately the other side is bad too tho.

Well this will be a twofer, I usually agree with your point of view, but on this topic I will diverge a bit. If someone is hardworking and industrious, just because they aren't educated, highly skilled, or intelligent is no reason for them to have to live in poverty. There really should be a floor for a full time working man or woman that they should be able to live decently without huge government subsidies. And the government shouldn't have to set it, people/companies should do it on their own. Just cause a guys a janitor doesn't mean he deserves to be homeless.

Well would you know Australian stores. Would Coles mean anything to you?

The guy that rebuilt them is running SEG/WinnDixie/BiLo/Harvey's now.

Don't think he'll be able to do here what he did there (too much tough competition here.)

The Coles turnaround is a great story, though.

If people are rewarded by the government for making bad decisions, they will continue to make only bad decisions.

That's what keeps most people poor.

What makes people "rich" isn't the lottery or assistance.  It's developing good habits, stacking up good decision after good decision, saving, and avoiding being slave to debt.  This happens slowly over a lifetime.  Unless you're a politician, of course...
