Blake Bortles Qb Ucf

If he comes out this year he'll be Gabbert 2.0 if he doesn't sit.

If he has to sit a year, he isn't worth a top 10 pick IMO.

Still dont like Bortles. I keep seeing a  slightly better version of Gabbert with a bit of the tebow throwing motion minus the arm strength both QBs had. No thanks not in the first or second he is a complete project player IMO who needs to sit for a season and refine his game under NFL coaching.

Manziel will get killed in the NFL if he tries running around like that. The LBs are too fast and now with teams moving their safeties around more and more to cover the passing TEs freeing up LBs to attack the QB he will get hammered.

I really dont want either QB on the roster period.

Clowney in the first, Manziel if he drops in the 2nd would be a dream.

Quote:The ol "level of competition" argument. What conference a QB plays in is irrelevant when evaluating him.

Sorry but I don't think it's irrelevant at all. I was on the Carr bandwagon till I saw his first game against a good defense......USC. How you handle big opponents in big games tells a lot about the mettle of one's character under fire. Although Bridgewater didn't play against high quality defenses, I was impressed with his game against Florida. Also, impressed with Manziel's performance in the SEC. I really need to see a Bortles game. When is the Bortles Bowl?

Carr's game against USC is literally like 2% of the puzzle when it comes to his full evaluation.

It definitely wasn't his shining moment, obviously, but it is also the mark of a poor evaluator if any one game literally makes you jump on or off a bandwagon as you say it did.

Our first 2picks in this draft should slot right into starting lineup.I agree with Clowney and Manziel would be a dream would even trade up for Manziel.

I still don't understand how anyone can see Bortles and think Gabbert. They aren't alike at all.

I've noticed if someone doesn't like a guy they're Gabbert.

I don't think Bortles is anything like Gabbert in terms of style or skill in my opinion. The comparison that I've observed is that Gabbert started skyrocketing up "mock" draft boards back in late 2010, and by the time the draft season was in full force, a lot of so called experts and non experts alike thought he was the best QB on the board. How Bortles is starting to appear more often is eerily similar.

Watching the games on YouTube of bortles the announcers talk how the media ignore him because of the team he was on and the fact that this was ucf's first year in the American conference but said he could be a sleeper in the draft. Also watch the entire SC vs UCF and Rutgers games how he feels under pressure and how he escaped would be sacks and keeps his eyes down field. That's why I like him and I think that's why his draft stock is rising. YES I know Rutgers sucks but he makes some amazing plays. And these are plays that you won't see on the highlight film because they aren't TDs or 40 yards down field.

I still do like him and if Dave deems him to be good enough to draft....I'm on board. But that was the only game that I saw him play against decent competition. So I'm not so high on him. I want Teddy or Johnny. Need to have a look at Bortles tho. Oh, and to me, it's way more than 2% of the puzzle when one plays his most important game of the year......and he has an off day. That matters to me. I've won state and national titles in tennis. I've coached on the collegiate level. The champions play their best when all is on the line. I know tennis is not football but a lot of the same things apply in every sport.

i watched this as well along with a couple of game and this is exactly why i liked him

i don't think he has the best arm but he can make alot of different throws and already makes presnap reads. In addition his pocket presence and ability to go through his reads is very well developed

i don't think with his arm he can be a consensus number one pick and i wonder if the reason i like him is I am just seeing what gabbert lacked and screaming shiny

i don't think he is truly a top 5 pick but i don't think he will make it to round 2 or even out of the top 15 especially with all the qb needy teams.

Arm strength is so overrated. What's the point of being able to throw a ball downfield if you can't hit the receiver? Give me accuracy any day of the week.

Arm strength is like Cab fare when you're at the bar. You just need enough to get yourself home. If you don't have enough, you're in trouble. If you have too much, you may be tempted to try some things that you shouldn't be doing.

I'm trying to make myself more informed and less opinionated.

Stop saying whatever stupid thing you're talking about and pay attention to all the interesting things I have to say!

was looking at a mock and saw we got slotted at bortles with the third pick. I'm Kinda thinking the way this draft goes we may see a lot of qbs fall again like last year, but just to the second and see a run on them there.
