How irrational is my fear that we're just going to end up with Marrone next year?

 

 It's much less likely than it would have been in Doug Marrone took over as Jaguars Interim HC after the team's loss in Tennessee last month.    Every game that goes by that Marrone doesn't become Interim HC reduces his chances to become the Jaguars HC for the 2017 season.

If Caldwell is retained I could see that happening. They would keep Hackett at OC and try to fix Bortles. He may look to bring in his own guy at DC though. Is he a 3-4 or 4-3 guy?

 

  In Doug Marrone's final season as Bills HC,  they used ' the Wide 9' 4-3 base Defense with Jim Schwartz as DC.  What that means if Marrone becomes a HC again remains to be seen.  Yet,  the Bills Defense did rank # 4 in 2014.

I wouldn't mind Jim Schwartz as HC. 

 

Although I know a lot of people prefer the idea of getting an offensive mind in here.

while he has no NFL HC experience he was HC for Alabama. He's been a QB coach and OC for a couple different teams. And coached Garrard to one of his best years and has been in on the development of Cam Newton.

  I think Jim Schwartz has a very high level of natural intelligence.  Finishing 3rd in your graduation class at Georgetown is a terrific accomplishment.  Also,  Schwartz has a wealth of NFL coaching experience.  I give Schwartz credit for taking a team that finished 0-16 the season before he became Lions HC,  leading the team to the playoffs in his 3rd season.

 

  However,  IMO,  for Schwartz to have a more successful stint as a HC the 2nd time around,  he needs to put more emphasis on discipline on and off the field.   Also,  he needs to have his Offensive Coordinator and QB Coach to stress fundamentals more than was the case when he was the Lions HC.   Schwartz also needs to have better people skills than he did in his 5 seasons in Detroit. 

 

 Mike Shula would be well worth considering for the Jaguars HC position for the reasons you mentioned.   Being that the Panthers have an uphill battle to make the playoffs,  there probably will be no restrictions with interviews and when Shula can be hired if the Jaguars choose to go in that direction.

Apparently,  Rams GM Les Snead also signed a contract extension.  

 

It's going to be interesting to see what happens when Stan Kroenke and Kevin Demoff start the process of selling luxury seats for their future stadium in Ingelwood, CA.   The honeymoon of the Rams being back in the Los Angeles area officially ended this morning.    There are multiple reasons to root against this team,  especially Kroenke, Demoff,  Jeff Fisher,  and Gregg Williams.

Gus would need to go 16-0 for two seasons to have the same win % as Jeff Fisher.


Just think about that. Bradley would need to go undfeated for two years in order to have the same win % as the guy who has lost the most games in NFL history as a HC.

I don't care if we have an offensive minded guy, or defensive minded guy. I want someone who can assemble a good staff and knows how to get a team prepared to play. Someone who knows how to manage in game scenarios.
