There is really no benefit to keeping DC to be honest.

Quote:I can't believe the majority of this fanbase (on this MB) thinks Caldwell deserves another year.

He has literally orchestrated the worst rebuild in NFL history

Actually Gene smith takes the prize of that honor. Caldwell isn't far behind.

It is arguable. Keeping Gus makes him just as guilty no matter how good his drafts are perceived to be. It's been a total nightmare.

No argument here.

Did he really have the call though?  Cause if Khan said lets give him the benefit of the doubt. And dave said no. He would of been fired last year.  That we will never know.

I think the gm usually calls the hc shots. If it was david's decision to keep gb for this year, he should be gone.. worst evaluation ever

It has been reported a thousand times that when Khan hired Caldwell they devised " a plan"  together to hire a coach for FOUR FULL YEARS to last through the entire painful rebuild.  They have merely stuck to their plan.

Should they have given up on it after last year, or after the bye-week?  Yes, I think so, but they seem to have been duped by the offensive production in '15 and the promise of upgrading defensive talent to accompany it.

However - it's not as cut and dry as you paint it because of "the plan."

I like that Khan and Dave are loyal. I don't like that they refuse to adapt to the obvious. I'm willing to watch this offseason to see what happens next.

If Caldwell returns he must admit that he made some poor decisions and fire Gus Bradley.

I would also

Trade a 4th rounder to Green Bay for Brett Hundley

1st round take Fournette

2nd Round OL

3rd Round DB

Hire Coughlin for some front office football advisory role

Examine every possible avenue for bringing in the best possible Head Coach

Quote:Call me crazy, but I don't trust a guy who missed on his head coach and his first three top 5 picks to make another head coach selection and top 5 pick.

I struggle with this too. A small part of me wants to see what the talent could do with better coaching but a bigger part of me doesn't trust Caldwell to find that better coaching.

It's time for change.

Idk if I'd be able to say that he missed on his first 3 top 5 picks

Joekel-Bust

Bortles-pitiful season but let's see what he can do with a competent HC/OC

Fowler-shows flashes he should probably play LB in a 3-4 scheme

So who do you trust?

Who should the coach be?

Yeah whatever, hardly a reason to keep this clown (Dave) around. Record wise it doesn't get worse than Dave

Missing on his two most important selections (QB and HC) is as bad as anything Gene Smith has done.

Sad, but true.

Not Caldwell?

He's missed huge on Bradley and 1st round picks. It's not good enough.

I don't get paid millions to make that decision and don't claim to know the best answer.

Dave clearly passed on far superior players at the same positions in Carr and Beasley. They might not be complete busts (yet), but they are absolutely misses.

Missing on Bradley, Joke and Bortles should cost him his job.  Those are franchise altering misses with coach selection and high draft picks.

Quote:I personally would stick a fork in him.  Given the amount of high draft picks and open cap it's hard to justify the roster he has built.  Sure coaching is a big part of it but the players have failed to live up to expectations.  After 4 years I can't really see a franchise player at this point.  Coaching can't fix players under performing and there has been a ton of that lately.  A coach can polish a turd but no matter how much a turd is a ultimately a turd.  Question marks at the QB, WR, DL, TE are huge holes that should of been fixed in 4 years.
If I said this I would get a warning.... so i'll just 2nd what jaguarmvp said.
