Jadeveon Clowney

A kid who comes from a family who has no money doesnt want to risk injury while playing for free? Man, how selfish he is for not wanting to get injured and cost himself millions like he saw Lattimore do last year.
His talent is off the charts, if Teddy isnt an option Im hoping he is the pick. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!

agreed - this guy is the biggest talent coming out of the draft by a mile. He and Bridgewater (simply because QB is a more important position) are my top 2 guys. I really hope we can get one of them.

I really hope we can get one of them. Then join me, hold your nose, and root for the skins to beat the Giants. I'm nauseated just typing that. But if we lose to Indy and the Skins win, then we should pick second, which should guarantee one or the other would be available. Worst to 1st. Curse Reversed!
Gus and Dave are very big on the "culture" of the team. Gus has said repeatedly that he wants players that are internally motivated (they don't require outside motivation; they have a burning desire to be the best they can be). I can recall Gus saying he talked to one of last year's draft picks multiple times, just to assess his mentality, before the decision was made to draft him. So the decision will not be made on physical talent alone. When it comes to players like Clowney, we have to factor in how he does in his interview(s) with Gus Bradley. Is he the type of person Gus wants on this team?
It's something none of us can know. Can another player wow Gus in the interview process to the point where we pass on Clowney? I think this is something we are all ignoring. A lot of us (myself included) think Clowney is a top-2 prospect in this draft, and fills a strong need for the Jags. And a lot of us (myself included) like to say "Gus can motivate him." But I get the impression that, in spite of Gus' talent for motivating players, Gus prefers players that motivate themselves. We show less advertisements to registered users. Quote: sure, but it's Caldwell's job to pick the best players. If he thinks Clowney is coachable (and why wouldn't he be?) and is miles ahead of any other player at that position, then he should take him. After all, it's Gus Bradley's job to coach. He's not gonna get a perfect coachable player every single time that has exactly his attitude. Sometimes he'll have to work with someone a little different. I'm sure Gus will be very happy to put up with Clowney's antics (which I think have been way overblown anyway) if he knows he's getting an amazing DE.

Quote:I don't see him having problems in Jacksonville if we do draft him.i don't know how involved bradley is in the draft process but considering our war room was him and caldwell with an ipad i think he is fairly involved. bradley and caldwell had a big thing last year about loving football and when i see players like cyp, gratz and evans on the pitch I get the feeling its not just gm speak. If clowney doesn't give the impression that he loves football in their interview with him, i don't think they would draft him especially considering the talent at the top of this draft. if they draft clowney i have faith that caldwell and bradley feel they can motivate him so considering his talent, i'm very happy with it
Clowney has major bust potential. Major talent or not, he has too many red flags. I wouldn't draft Manziel in top 5 for the same reason I wouldn't draft Clowney- too risky.
Sorry, but I'd take Mack or Barr over him. Heck I'd pull the trigger on Watkins before him and we are not weak at WR. Clowney is not a self motivator. We just released Mincey to make a point to the team. Clowney can take his entourage and play else where. Time to look elsewhere for potential jag picks.
Clowney is a rare talent. If the team picks at 3 and he is available, you have to take him.

A guy like Clowney automatically makes Gratz, Cyprien, and Evans better by a mile, all whom happen to be part of Caldwell's first draft as a GM. Drawing double teams also makes guys like Alualu better by a mile as well.
In other words, just adding Clowney makes this defense sick and starts to cement Caldwell as a great GM.

I would much rather take Clowney than reach on a QB not named Teddy.
LEONARD FOURNETTE FAN CLUB PRESIDENT. I WAS BEHIND HIM WHEN YOU ALL SAID HE WAS BRANDON JACOBS. QUIT HATING ON THE JAGUARS. GUS IS GONE. COUGHLIN HAS RESTORED ORDER. FOURNETTE IS FRED TAYLOR. DONT BELIEVE ME JUST WATCH.

Not even close.
