Rams extend, and then fire Jeff Fisher

I don't think any NFL HC will survive 5 or more straight non playoff seasons in the future.

If it's favorable, maybe Gruden could be enticed by Stan Kroenke's dollars.
That's gotta be one of the biggest slaps in the face. Couldn't happen to a better guy tho! Haha.

Quote:I counted 11 winning seasons in 22 years (including this year). Ah well then someone on the radio dot their info wrong and passed it on.
Quote:I think it's funny to hear Mortensen listing the reasons for Fisher being fired, and one of the main items is fan apathy. This fan base hasn't had a team in over 20 years, and are in the first year of getting one back in LA, and they're apathetic? Unbelievable. This just goes to show you that no matter how desperately the NFL wanted to be back in LA, the fan base was going to revert to the same behavior that cost them their teams previously. That is only true if you limit the fan base to fans in Los Angeles. Did you ever notice the team had a major attendance problem last season? The fan base in St. Louis does not care anymore.
Quote:Rams to hire Mike Smith The Rams will have competition for Mike Smith.
Quote:I wonder what Jon Gruden's opinion of Jared Goff is? If it's favorable, maybe Gruden could be enticed by Stan Kroenke's dollars. Jon Gruden has repeatedly stated during past coach hiring cycles he has no interest in coaching because he loves his ESPN job. I would be shocked if he accepted any interview request. Kroenke is gonna go all in and offer Harbaugh 15 million per year plus total control of the team. Gonna bring in Kap to compete with Goff.
Go big or go home in LA.

Quote:If Stan Kroenke can pay a coach that salary he could have stayed in St. Louis.Kroenke is all about the money. He moved the team to LA because he's gonna make three time the amount of money he would've made in St. Louis. The lure of the spotlight of LA might tempt Jon Gruden if the conditions are right from his perspective. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!

The Rams would have to consider the fact he has been out of coaching since 2003 when deciding if they should interview him. Quote:The Rams would have to consider the fact he has been out of coaching since 2003 when deciding if they should interview him. Jon Gruden has been out of coaching since being fired after the 2008 season. I agree though that the long time period Jon Gruden has been out of coaching is a legit concern. ironically, the NFL HC who was out of coaching amongst the longest periods of time was Dick Vermeil, who came back to coach the St. Louis Rams and led them to a Super Bowl win. |
