Quote:Quarterbacks get hot leading up to the draft. Did anyone think Goff and Wentz would go 1 and 2 at this time last year? I don't think so.And I like Trubisky better than Goff or Wentz. I think he winds up a Brown. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!

Looks a lot like Richard Seymour to me. If we could get a player like Seymour with our first pick that would be awesome. Not as big but the style and the way he can play inside and outside

Not as big but the style and the way he can play inside and outside I know a lot of people are drooling at the possibility of taking Allen and pairing him next to Jackson. I've heard that the Jets might cut Sheldon Richardson in the offseason, due to the fact that he is owed over $8 million for 2017. They just signed Muhammad Wilkerson to a huge contract and now, might not be able to afford Richardson. Since Allen is projected to be the same kind of NFL talent that Richardson already is and we have tons of cap space, would anyone oppose signing Richardson in the offseason (if he is cut) and then filling another position in the draft? And what position would Richardson play, LDE? Rotation at UT with Jackson? Richardson would demand a similar contract to what Malik got.
Let's get Richardson, Berry, and Garrett so we could challenge Baltimore and Chicago for the greatest defense of all time.
Quote:And what position would Richardson play, LDE? Rotation at UT with Jackson? Richardson would demand a similar contract to what Malik got. You play him next to Malik at DT in a conventional 4-3 defense. We get two inside pass rushers then, like we had with Stroud and Henderson. We show less advertisements to registered users. Quote:Or do you play him in Maliks position and swing Malike to Odrick so Yannick-Roy(?)-Allen-Malik?Either one, Malik and Allen are both versatile enough to play 3 or 5 tech.
Best available player please. Nothing wrong with loading up on monster DL like Allen and Jackson. You stack up talent like that when you can and figure out how to get them all on the field later. Only a dope like Gus would screw that up. He would probably bench Malik or Allen and keep Alualu on the field because it fits his scheme.

Blake Bortles......YOU'RE FIRED! Dave Caldwell.....YOU'RE FIRED! Quote:Either one, Malik and Allen are both versatile enough to play 3 or 5 tech. If we switch to a 3-4 look I would be in favor of Allen at 5 tech along with Jackson. Keep Miller/Jones as your NT. In a 4-3 alignment pairing Allen next to Jackson could cause our run defense to suffer as neither guy is a pluger.

I don't think Allen or Malik would be utilized best at 3-4 DEs, not to mention Jack and Telvin would be wasted as 4-3 ILBs. I'd definitely stay as a 4-3 and play Allen as the 5 tech and Malik as the 3 tech in base and keep Roy/Abry as the 1/0 tech. Yannick/Roy/Malik/Allen in base and Yannick/Malik/Allen/Fowler(or hopefully FA/draftee) on passing downs would be extremely formidable. Quote:I don't want to switch to 3-4. In your second alignment many people in this thread are proposing that formation as our base. I'm running all day against that. I'm not too worried about Telvin as a 3-4 backer. Ryan Shazier is doing just fine for the Steelers and he's 225-230. With Myles also in the mix I believe this will allow alot more flexibility within the scheme given the athleticism of out LB group. It doesn't have to be a pure 3-4 look. We could run a variation similar to how the Steelers align. Lebeau would have wet dreams with a 3-4 defense consisting of Jackson and Allen at end, Yannick and Fowler as rush backers and Jack and Telvin as inside backers.

I'm running all day against that. I agree. I'm o.k. with a switch to 3-4, if that's what the new coach wants. I think Jack would be great as a 3-4 ILB, but Telvin does worry me. Remember, Ryan Shazier is an inch shorter and 12 lbs. heavier than Smith. That's a bit of a difference. I hope Telvin would be fine in a 3-4 scheme, but I'd probably bring in some young depth at the position, just in case. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today! Quote:Huge waste.Allen has played a lot of defensive end at Bama and done it very impressively. I think he is going to test competitively at the combine in edge drills too. I have zero problem with him at 5T in base and 3T in nickel. |
