Must take a QB with our 1st pick
|
No thank you. Especially if it ends up being a top two pick. If we pick a QB over someone like Garrett or Allen that would be a pretty Jaguar esque thing to do.

Quote:Watch his National Championship game snaps against Bama last year and tell me what you see. I don't need to. I watched that game live last year. I just don't see what you apparently see. Quote:I don't need to. I watched that game live last year. I just don't see what you apparently see. Very good game from him wasn't it? What do you think of the more polish Dak Prescott comp for him?
Quote:Very good game from him wasn't it? What do you think of the more polish Dak Prescott comp for him? I think he has completely reverted from what I saw last season. His arm looks more fatigued this year, he doesn't look as patient in the pocket this season and he looks less confident in his receivers. I think Dak was more polished coming into the draft than Watson is right. What is helping Dak is that he was lucky enough to go to a team with a perfect setup for him. He has the best O-Line in the NFL, arguably the best RB of 2016, a pro bowl TE and a star WR with a solid supporting cast. You do realize that Watson would have none of those things if he were drafted by the Jags? It would be an unmitigated disaster. Yeah he doesn't look as good this season but last year was a pretty high standard. I'm not saying Watson will have the same success his rookie year just that they are very similar types of players. Can win with the legs or the arm and are great leaders. Quote:I'm not a scout as you know, but I don't see it. Looks like a poor man's Jameis Winston or something. Oh. In what way?
Quote:I'd rather sign Colin Kaepernick, outside of the Bears game, he's played well this season. His tools are some of the best the NFL has ever seen, he's still young, and has a ton of upside. I expect the Jags new coaching staff to be interested in a guy like Kaepernick. Not sure they'll agree with your assessment, but even if they did I highly doubt they'd bring in a guy like Kaepernick into a town where the team has a very visible partnership with the military.
Quote:Yeah he doesn't look as good this season but last year was a pretty high standard. I do NOT want my QB's running at all, so winning with their legs means nothing to me. I want my QB to sit in the pocket, go through his progressions and find the open receiver. The only time a QB should run is when they are being chased. I'm old school. QB's throw and RB's run. I can't stand watching designed QB runs. That's not real football, as far as I'm concerned. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today! I'm not really down with designed runs but having a QB who can scramble for a TD or a first down is handy. More important that they can throw the ball first and foremost though.
Won't happen if Dave is here by any means (and probably not at all), but if Garrett and Allen are gone I would give Trubisky some serious consideration.
Quote:Oh. In what way? Kind of gimmicky and runs too much for my taste. Like I said I'm no scout, most likely I'm wrong. ![]()
There's times where I think it might be a good idea to just keep drafting QB's in each round until you get the guy. And if you happen to get two guys, then you'll get your picks back in the next draft or drafts through a trade.
I don't think we're drafting a QB in round 1 next year as we're likely to have something in the range of the #3 to #6 overall pick, but I wouldn't be totally shocked or upset if we did. I do expect a QB to be drafted in the first 4 rounds though. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Just a question that I have always wondered... Why don't teams in serious need of a quarterback draft 4 or 5, or even an entire draft of them? Make the entire offseason about competing and see who rises to the top. At the very least, you would have a quarterback who is better than 7, 8 or 9 other options. Teams frequently give up entire drafts and future drafts to move up for one quarterback, why not just grab 7?
I understand it would be difficult to find enough snaps to evaluate that many qbs, but if you went into the process knowing you were going to do that, you could adjust and make it work.

Watson doesnt have the physical size or arm strength you'd like to see in a top 10 pick. I think that will hurt him. I could easily see him fall out of the 1st round.

Quote:It would be nigh on impossible to accurately evaluate them in real game reps. The cream rises to the top. The top 4 or 5 quarterbacks in practice get game reps. Not sure a quarterback who is the 6th or 7th best practice qb is going to amount to much anyways. Quote:The cream rises to the top. The top 4 or 5 quarterbacks in practice get game reps. Wouldn't really give you an accurate picture of what they would look like, plus the receivers would struggle a lot.
Yeah. With the new CBA and the limits on padded practices etc, it's hard enough to evaluate 3 Qbs. Much less, 5 or more.
I'd be happy seeing Allen, Bortles and an early or mid-round pick competing this summer. Finding a franchise QB doesn't really have a "shortcut." There are too many varying degrees of success and rate of player development. |
