Coaching Candidates

Quote:I don't remember the Chiefs going to or winning a Superbowl in all the years Reid has been there. 41-20, and they have as much of a chance to win the Super Bowl this year as anyone. I forgot this team is SB or bust now.... I'll take the type of team Reid has put together any day of the week. Quote:Oh, good Lord, not Marvin Lewis! People here in Cincinnati want him gone. He is spineless and lets the players do whatever they want to do. If you guys think Gus was soft, Lewis is in the exact same mold. Cincinnati is way too talented to keep losing over and over in the first round of the playoffs and now they aren't even going to the playoffs. That can be attributed to Lewis' lax, undisciplined style of coaching. He "lets the inmates run the asylum."Do you remember what the Bengals were like before Lewis became coach? They were the Jaguars. Worst to 1st. Curse Reversed!
Quote:Do you remember what the Bengals were like before Lewis became coach? That came from the Bengals finally getting with the times and hiring a decent amount of college scouts. Once they did that, they were able to bring in much better talent. With all the talent they have on that roster though, they can't get passed the first round of the playoffs. It's like they hit a brick wall. Just look at last year's game. That should've been a victory against Pitt, but undisciplined play, mental errors and boneheaded moves cost them a victory. It's because Lewis lacks discipline as a leader. Quote:That came from the Bengals finally getting with the times and hiring a decent amount of college scouts. It's because Lewis lacks discipline as a leader. It's my understanding that they still have the smallest scouting department in the league. A quick Google search led me to an article about their scouting saying they have a total of 7 in the scouting department. We show less advertisements to registered users. If I were Shad Khan, I'd try this:
Head coach: Matt Patricia Offensive Coordinator/Assistant Head Coach: Tom Coughlin Defensive Coordinator: whomever Patricia picks Then have Caldwell bring in a veteran QB in the offseason and declare an open competition at quarterback next season. Quote:Or it's because Dalton didn't play..... No. McCarron actually played well. More than good enough to win. Burfict may be a scumbag, but he is very talented. He might be the 2nd best player on the defense (behind Atkins). It wasn't just him though. "Pacman" Jones made some bad plays as well. It seems like those two are constantly "the trouble makers" on the team, but Marvin Jones has failed over and over to take control of the situation. When asked about it, he "hum-hauls" around and makes all kind of excuses in his soft, calm, sleep inducing tone. If the Bengals actually had a coach who could come in and command some respect and lay down the law, they could get over the hump and make some noise in the playoffs. They certainly have the talent.
I ran across this the other day and I thought that it related to the imminent Head Coach Search that the Organization is about to undergo:
"My opinion on this [coaching] is, if you are closed minded and don't like people to question your approach, that is often due to you being a touch insecure - you don't want questions you can't answer. I love questions, because if I can't answer them, then I have to think on it. Maybe you are right, and I [as the coach] am wrong. Not to get all preachy about it, but coaching really helped me with this. I used to always want to be right, but when I started coaching, and I retained that attitude for a season, I saw how when 'my way' fell short, and saw it cost the boys [players]. I knew I'd better stow my ego and get better at what I was doing. I asked the boys to go out of their comfort zone, so I'd darn well better get out of mine. I stopped assuming I was right all the time (and guess what, it turned out I was wrong a lot of the time). Anyway, I'd like to think that mindset has carried over to the rest of my life somewhat. If you don't want to be questioned, if you always have to be right, well, you aren't going to learn very much. you'll stagnate."
I'm trying to make myself more informed and less opinionated.
Stop saying whatever stupid thing you're talking about and pay attention to all the interesting things I have to say! Quote:I don't remember the Chiefs going to or winning a Superbowl in all the years Reid has been there. How about them Jaguars? You remember them going to or winning a Superbowl in all the years anyone has been here? Hmmmm? I'll wait... Haha. Chiefs got a quick turnaround in one season from really bad but talented to playoff contender constantly. (Only one team gets to win the SB every year unfortunately) They went from not close to in the chase... One year. The only major changes? Coach and QB. Without Manziel he's done diddly poo at A&M And he couldn't even keep Manziel under control when he was there. He's supposed to lead a bunch of grown men? Nah... pass.
