It would be odd if he got the job but I think it depends more on how the team reacts to him. When installing an interim coach it's not a matter of wins and losses as much as it is the overall performance of the team.

Is there continuing sloppy play, delay of game on kickoffs, flags for sideline infractions, etc.

That is why I said nothing will change. It takes a lot more than that to see changes.

This is one of the reasons we got Marrone wasn't it kind of expected if Gus got fired Marrone would take over.

Now lets see what if anything he changes up.

Bradley hired Marrone.

Yup and screw up a higher draft pick in the process

And you keep spinning off your cast-offs and they win the next place they land.  Coughlin, Del Rio, Mularkey...

We learned in the Sunday School who made the sun shine through.  I know who made the moonshine too, back where I come from.

It's an interim coach for two games on a lost.  Who cares who is out there?  Players could coach themselves for all intents and purposes.

Mularkey was [BLEEP] here and said as much in an intrrview saying it was too early and took the wrong approach.

JDR was here for a long time. It was time for a change.

Should have just put him in as HC after Week 2.  I'm not saying we'd be winning the division if Marrone was the Head Coach after the San Diego loss, but I think we'd only be a game back at this point.

The Jaguars wasted this season because Caldwell and our owner suck at making the tough decisions.  I'm glad Gus is fired.  But I'm still pretty salty with the Front Office at the moment

Lmbo god I love when things come full circle like this.

People have been saying to do this same exact scenario for a season and a half now. Good thing we have a whopping two games to see what Marrone has, making the offseason task of finding a HC even more difficult.

It's possible.  However, I think it's unlikely because of how long it took Shad Khan to replace Gus Bradley.   Two games doesn't seem like enough of a time frame for Doug Marrone to make a strong enough case to be the Jaguars next regular HC.   He probably will get an interview though.

yes i do because none of you can see the truth still. NFL is paying Jags off to lose so they can move team to London.

Khan is onlymakeing improvements to everbank to put up a front. if team was staying in Jacksonville for sure a new stadiuam would be built.

2018 London aguars. 2017 wil lbe the teams final year in Jacksonville. its fixed.

I'm annoyed only because this situation isn't as farfetched as it sounds.
Coughlin when asked if winning will be a focus: "What the hell else is there? This is nice and dandy, but winning is what all this is about."

I am Jacks complete lack of surprise.

No... Seriously.  There's 2 games left in the season.  Interim HC always come from someone who is already on the staff.  Marrone is the OBVIOUS choice to take the helm for the last 2 games as he actually has HC experience.  That's all that's going on here.  It's the practical, prudent decision.

This in no way affects the coaching search.  MAYBE if we come out and drop 50 burgers on the Colts and Titans, he'll get a look, but I think Dave knows he needs to make a SERIOUS move this offseason at HC in order to bring the fans back into it.  Marrone isn't that guy.  He may be a decent coach, but I can't see Caldwell hooking his cart to "decent".  He knows he needs to  hit a home run.

Marrone knows this as well.  I believe he's still going to bust his rear trying to put the best product on the field possible, because 31 other teams are always watching, and as mentioned, he could potentially move into an OC slot if he performs well.

SO yeah... Nothing sexy or exciting about the announcement, but it never WAS going to be sexy or exciting, just checking the box.

January/Feb is when the excitement will come.

Talent, talent, talent. That is obvious to anyone who pays attention to the rest of the NFL.
