Cyprien is trash

Cyp is like this era's version of Reggie Williams. Why is he celebrating every tackle???

He's a downhill box safety, he doesn't have the best backward movement or functionality. I'm not saying Cyp had a good game or making excuses for falling flat on your butt in a key situation, but there is something people are missing: Who takes terrible angles, and either attempts weak [BLEEP] diving arm tackles, or tries to throw his shoulder into the runner. Translation... a Downhill, Box Safety, who can't tackle. He's the very definition of a BAD Strong Safety. I don't care what PFF pulls out of their algorithm. They eyes tell you everything you need to know. It's not ONE game. He led all safeties last year in missed tackles. This year, he's whiffing and diving and bouncing off of players just like he always has. I wish I had whatever drink or drugs the people that gave him a top 10 ranking are on... because it would probably fool me into thinking the Jags are going to the playoffs this year.

Dude is trash but people here are so in love with mediocrity.
A lot of people already want to extend Lee who hasn't been that great and hasn't played an entire season yet. Mike Thomas 2.0. I am a fan, not a cheerleader.
Quote:Calling PFF "experts" is being generous. There've been countless examples where their ranking of a player is wildly different than what is actually seen on tape. PFF doesn't just look at box scores and give oit grades. They watch and break down the entire game. So ya wrong. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Anyone who thinks Cyprien is trash, for the last 3 years, ranked top 5 in the league in DB tackles needs to look in the mirror and see a hater. You don't talk when he causes a goal line fumble, there was not ONE post saying nice job Cyp, for causing a turnover. Keeping 7 off the board. That's big time. But God forbid he miss a tackle that 2 others also missed. The NFL rankings don't lie. His job is to tackle first, and he does it and has done it consistently for 4 years. And he is not a liability in the pass game.
Fans that hate like this on a decent player any team would be happy to get make me ill, and lowers my opinion of a select few in the fan base. So many things wrong, and threads on Cyprien. For 3 years threads proclaiming Cyprien is trash. Unreal. No wonder our FA tend to washout. No wonder the great ones don't come here. The abuse from the fans is brutal with people sniping 90% of team. Poz is slow cant cover, Thomas is a bust, Ivory is a bust, Cyprien is trash. Robinson is stone hands. There has been a negative thread about every player on this team. No, certain fans are the trash and just like to whine. About the wrong players always. We need a coach. Cyprien has a couple good years left.
Cyp has been trash from day one. Jag fans have been so desperate to find a glimmer of hope in the man, every good play that is few and far between is amplified ten fold.
I do enjoy watching the guy lay a nasty hit on someone though.
Quote:Cyprien looks like Tarzan, plays like %#+*. Is Jane a bad word now?
I survived the Gus Bradley Error.
I would like to see the Jags move on from Cyprien. I had some faith in him in his first two years to come around, but he just hasn't gotten better enough.
Landing Gipson and leaving Cyp in the box helped to some degree because he isn't terrible against the run, and has actually made a number of good plays there... ...but he's still a big liability in coverage. I can't believe the number of times I've seen him actually celebrate after a TE/wr he was "covering" dropped the ball or a QB threw a bad pass. He didn't affect the play at all and then does this stupid celebration?? Ugh. Hard to stomach. Even with a potential change in scheme, the SS has to be able to cover better than Cyprien does. There's just no way around it. Sample is still on IR and should be in the mix in camp with two cheap years left on his rookie deal. I hope to see another pick or acquisition in the mix as well for 2017. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Quote:He had a bad day, but he's a top 10 SS. He's top 10 in ...... Always being out of position on a play. Making arm tackles which he miss. Getting beat on shallow, drag and post routes. He is top 10 on those.
Whether someone has a liberal, or conservative viewpoint, a authoritative figure should not lock a thread for the sole purpose to get the last word in all the while prohibiting someone else from being able to respond.

And he is not a liability in the pass game. I mean... https://jungle.jaguars.com/index.php?/to...ntry871641 We'll start there. Yes, I actually HAVE given him credit during the small window where he was playing well. As for giving him credit for the Fumble... well, part of why they were on the goal line in the FIRST place was because he missed tackles, blew coverage, missed assignments, etc. He literally lost his man on the first play of the game. He was the reason for the Delay of Game on the Kickoff. He gave up the final touchdown, in epic-fail fashion. He didn't miss ONE tackle. He missed MULTIPLE tackles. He didn't get beat ONCE. He got beat REPEATEDLY. Where are you getting this insane nonsense that he tackles well? Worse, that he's done so for 4 years?! http://jacksonville.com/sports/football/...105-season Quote: Poor tackling is his M.O. He's KNOWN for it. http://www.espn.com/blog/jacksonville-ja...ed-tackles Hell, take it from Cyp himself.. even he acknowledges he was bad. Cyprien IS trash. He has been since day 1. (Article going into his second season, pointing out his Rookie shortcomings) http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap2000000...an-cyprien Quote: After 2015: http://www.espn.com/blog/jacksonville-ja...raft-picks Quote: He had a couple decent games at the start of the year, and suddenly people started acting like he was All Pro... but he's been this way his whole career. It's not just us saying it on the boards... there's basically been articles EVERY SINGLE YEAR regarding Cyprien and his poor tackling. Sorry.. but you are simply wrong.

He elevated his play from trash, to average for 3 games, then straight back to trash. Shocker. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
I agree, He's trash.... but he's not the reason this team is losing game after game... it's all falls back on Bortles.
I ain't no monkey... I'm an ape.

I'm not saying Cyp had a good game or making excuses for falling flat on your butt in a key situation, but there is something people are missing: I was asleep for half this game, so I'm not going to act like I watched every missed tackle Ole Cyper made... But I saw the same thing you did regarding Cyps assignment on the Viking TEs in the game. I kept wondering why Ole Cyper was assigned to cover thier TE? It always seems to come back to the complete Keystone Cops we have as a coaching staff. They are completely out to lunch. I just wonder what Old Cyper would have been if we had real coaches coaching him from the get go. Despite the current feelings towards Jonathan Cyprien, he looked like a very promising SS his rookie year. He's regressed into Ole Cyper since then. I just have to put that on coaches. He's going to eventually have to cover occasionally no matter how much you try to insulate him from it. It's not that they are "assigning" him to cover the TE - it's that the offensive package and alignment will simply demand it from time to time. You can bet your bottom dollar Wash tries to limit that - but any opposing OC worth his salt is going to counter.
Quote:He's a safety. He's going to eventually have to cover occasionally no matter how much you try to insulate him from it. Exactly. Opposing coaches will try to exploit weakness. However for those wantin Telvin on TEs like Rudolph he got torched nasty on a double move that was ovetthrown (likely TD or huge play). Later on Rudolph made him slip on a simple under-curl out route a very basic TE route. |
