Jadeveon Clowney

he is such a talent but i cannot see us drafting him with this sort of attitude, we already have one headcase that we need to get in line that cost a first rounder

I agree...I think us passing on him has more to do with Gus & Bradley's philosophy of bring in guys who love football.  I think if he is sitting there by #3, some team will get antsy and offer us a deal we can't refuse and we will trade back.

60% of the Time...It works everytime...

i'm a big clowney supporter and this speeding crap is a huge red flag. we could do the same thing we did with blackmons contract if we pick clowney though, but the need for speed still scares me outside of football.

You guys actually think a few SPEEDING tickets will harm his draft stock? Give me a break.

LEONARD FOURNETTE FAN CLUB PRESIDENT. I WAS BEHIND HIM WHEN YOU ALL SAID HE WAS BRANDON JACOBS. QUIT HATING ON THE JAGUARS. GUS IS GONE. COUGHLIN HAS RESTORED ORDER. FOURNETTE IS FRED TAYLOR. DONT BELIEVE ME JUST WATCH.

Noone thinks it will harm his overall draft stock, what we're saying is it has a good chance of harming his overall draft stock with us, so it's increasing the chance of if we're picking and Teddy isnt there and the front office isnt high on other guys, theres a good chance we may try and trade down.

Quote:that's not how it works, contract year is the year you want to play your best
That's why I said the year BEFORE contract year...he'll pull a Marcedes and show up for the contract year...if he's not serving time for reckless driving....
If that RV sales place wants Tebow in Jax bad enough to take out a billboard saying as much.....they should just HIRE him.

Winner winner. That's exactly right.

All this talk about how Gus can motivate Clowney is mularky. You don't select a player that needs motivation in the top 3.

The Jags aren't that team that would do that.

Clowney can walk around with his entourage, and primadonna attitude when he's selected by a different team, and he can seek "motivation" there.

I think the Jags trade down before taking him.

He's a once a decade prospect. I have little problem with his performance this year, and if you actually watched SC games, you aren't surprised he didn't put up numbers.

He looks like he enjoys the game, is clearly superior to his opponent on a play to play basis, and it shows. He lives in the backfield, whether they run away from him or not.

I heard his dad comment on the supposed entourage, and he sounded credible in his bewilderment as to that claim.

If someone blames a kid for being careful on the field when millions are at stake, then they aren't living in reality, especially considering he got to watch what happened to his own teammate lattimore.

As far as the speeding tickets, I couldn't care any less about this. A 20 year old driving fast. Shock. Awe. Non-issue.

Lots of people do time for reckless driving.........or not

It's SPEEDING TICKETS for crying out loud.

Let's pull the DMV record of everyone and fret over everything on it. Alex Mack ran a stoplight 3 months ago? Cross him off the list. Let's go with a 5th rounder instead who has a clean record.

Anyone know if Clowney has returned all of his library books? Parking tickets?

Got to say that I got a chuckle out of this. Overdue library books. Started my day off right.

His attitude will show during the interviews, which we will obviously conduct with him.  I wouldn't pay too much attention to what the media is saying.

If he indeed is protecting himself this year in preparation for the draft then it'll be up to the front office to decide if it's an anomaly or part of a prima donna character concern. It'll be interesting to see

I was stationed in NC in the military and used to drive home for our 3 and 4 day weekends, it seemed as if I was pulled over on every trip... in South Carolina. I could be wrong but they've really got a watchful eye for drivers there.

The speeding tickets don't bother me on Clowney as much as the questions regarding his effort. But I think most of you are right when it comes to Gus/Dave if they feel other players have comparable value IMO. They'll possibly pass him up if Bridgewater or Barr is there despite his unbelievable talent. Any other coach/GM combo may not.

Exactly

If we take him I trust that Caldwell and Bradley feel they can get the best out of him

I will trust them on that
