Jon Allen

Allen is quick enough to play outside. Fairly similar to Fletcher Cox.

People thinking Allen will be wasted as a 4-3 end haven't really been watching Bama the last two years...

Even though he can play it 4-3 end is not his ideal position.

Sure, if Malik didn't exist Allen would play 3 tech full time. However, if Allen had to be a full time 4-3 even in nickel I'll bet he would still have a better career than Fowler.

Glad you brought up Fowler. Perfect example of what happens when you waste a player's talent playing out of position.

Yes. He needs to be a SLB.

or maybe Fowler just sucks no matter where you put him.

I see where you're going with this. Bulk up Fowler some and let him play the nickel 3 tech as a DPR where his lack of athleticism and bend will theoretically be mitigated against slower guards and where he can take the direct route to the QB. Keep Allen at LDE in nickel in that case. Smart.

Could be, but the last place he ever needed to be was as a pass rushing DE. He's just not a consistent pass rusher and never has been.

Allen or Garret has to be the pick. I think Cleveland goes Watson or Trubisky, then 49ers go Garret, and Jon Allen will be ours.

You do realize that Cleveland has 2 first round picks in the top 10. They could easily take their #1 player on the board with the #1 overall pick (which appears to be Myles Garrett) and they could still take one of those overrated QB's at #9. I would be shocked, dumbfounded, flabbergasted, dismayed, bewildered, stunned, surprised, blown away and speechless if the Browns spent the #1 overall pick on a QB, after passing on better QB options in the last draft.

Watson is widely underated at this point.

And that's the last thing I'll say about him. I'll just wait to see where he's drafted and how he plays.

I'd like to see us switch to a 3-4 and have it be

Allen-Miller-Jackson

Yannick-Jack-Smith-Fowler

This would be intriguing, however I'm not even sure Miller will be with the team next year due to his age (over 30) and injury. They could still find a true nose guard in free agency or in the draft (mid-rounds) if this was the plan. Also, Poz could be utilized some in this scheme.

Let's just hope they get the right coach who can determine which scheme will best utilize the obvious talent this team has on defense.

we wont let go of Miller. 30 isnt that old for a NT.Miller is one of our best defensive players and our run defense is considerably worse when he dont play.
