Quote:He almost has to say this. I just can't imagine we go QB with a top 5 pick. I don't see any good options in FA either. So I'm not sure what the plan will be.
just bring in viable competition  -   not that hard to do given Blake's performance level this season

HC will have autonomy on that, but I'll give my recommendation.

Glad to hear it.

Dave almost lit up when brining up Coughlin. Coughlin will be a serious candidate.

It's smart not marrying yourself to Bortles.

Quote:Interesting that the decision to fire him was made BEFORE the game.

Perhaps the decision was made prior to the game, however, that does not mean the action of firing him would have happened immediately after the game with a win.

They simply seized the moment

Caldwell isn't sugar coating anything.

Which is exactly why Caldwell is smart.

At this point, I seriously think it's Marvin Lewis, Payton or Coughlin.

Regarding mistakes:

We counted on our offense taking the next step.  Didn't happen.

We lead the league in negative turnover ratio.

Quote:Tom Coughlin is someone we are interested in talking to.

BR reported today that Gus was in touch with Coughlin during the season, asking TC for advice and bouncing ideas off of him.

Very interesting.

I dont care what anyone says, I have always respected Dave Caldwell. I admit, I am a fan of him and I was really happy when he was hired. I know people are upset, I know the results are awful and the team has completely melted down, but I still believe we can turn it around.

It wont be a popular opinion, but I'm glad Caldwell is getting another chance.

True. But unless it's Kirk Cousins or maybe Fitz, I'm not sure where that viable comp will come from. Maybe we might take a QB in later rounds again. FA seems more practical though

So, If Coughlin comes in, who does the interview Caldwell or Khan?

More disciplined approach?

Let's not mistake Gus's method as not "disciplined." Maybe not in front of you guys, but he practiced discipline. Maybe a different voice, different method can fix that problem. (undisciplined play)

Likely a combination of Dave, Tony, Shad and Mark.

Thanked Bradley for the opportunity. Hopes to be a good friend to Gus. Tough time for organization....

You know TC has binders of information on various players across the league.  You have to wonder if he knows about some stadium janitor he can insert as Brunell 2.0.

Fans deserve better. Thanks for all the good times too many are in the past.

Interesting comment where it sounded like Gus wasn't Caldwell's prime choice in the first place.
