OFFICIAL/CONFIRMED: Bradley Fired

Quote:I keep seeing Jim Harbaugh mentioned. C'mon people, why would he leave one of the most secure college jobs in all of college football, that he has completely turned around in a short time? He is loved there and he makes just as much if not more money than he would in the pros. Why would he leave that just to come to a losing NFL team that has a bad QB situation, no real chance at a franchise QB in free agency and a terrible crop of QB's in the next draft? Jags fans and Rams fans need to quit dreaming. Maybe we could get Shaw from Stanford, but this isn't a Madden video game. Harbaugh isn't coming to Jacksonville.

Quote:Bahahah You tell someone to remove McDaniels but you add Harbaugh?

Harbaugh, Cowher and Gruden are not coming here.

Money talks.

If Harbaugh is at all money motivated, and/or at all is interested in a return to the NFL, Khan has the money to make it happen.

Is it likely?  Maybe not.

But if Khan/Caldwell were serious about Harbaugh, they could throw enough money at him to make it interesting.

Regarding Harbaugh over McDaniels-Harbaugh has coached a team to the Super Bowl.  McDaniels?  Not so much.

Worst to 1st.  Curse Reversed!

Quote:Like Ive said before, Blake is and always will be a gunslinger. He loves taking chances and giving his guys an opportunity to make a play. Doesnt mean he cant be a QB to take us far with all the weapoms and defense we surrounded him with. Its not easy to find someone that can even do that. He showed he could last year.

His mechanics are making things look worse decision making wise. Like that pick 6 a couple weeks back where the CB jumped the route on the sideline pass? That wouldnt have happened if his throwing motion and footwork werent so sloppy causing the corner to be able to get over there due to how long it takes Blake to get it there.

If we had a decent run game, he wouldn't have to be such a gunslinger. Right now, the ground game is non-existent. If we fixed this aspect of the offense and became more balanced, we would limit the amount of throws Bortles makes, thus limiting his blunders.

Quote:nobody will help him with his throwing motion.  He is who he is.  The sooner people realize that, the better.  He's not the guy.  He never was and he never will be, period.  I hope the new coach sees this as well and drafts/signs some competition.  Even decent competition like Brian Hoyer would more than likely beat out Bortles if the competition was fair.  Problem is, the offseason doesn't have nearly enough snaps to go around for a true competition to take place.

He's literally had three different versions of this throwing motion in three seasons. The 2015 version was still flawed, but not hopeless. If he can find that again and improve upon it, he's salvageable.

I think it's a major longshot and I want real competition at QB in the coming offseason, but I don't share your complete lack of hope in the kid.

Quote:Or you can view it as having five different coaches trying to fix him with no success.
Sure you can - but anyone in the coaching world would tell you that having five different guys telling you how to do something in three years is less than ideal.

Harbaugh already makes $5+ million at Michigan per year. That's more than most coaches make in the NFL. He has job security and the people love him there, because he has made them a national power again in a very short time. It simply makes no sense for him to leave that situation.

While money talks, let's not act like Harbaugh is hard up for money. As you said he is already paid handsomely at Michigan as it is. He's not leaving that situation to come to the Jacksonville freaking Jaguars.

is there hope?  i guess technically there may be.  I just think the likelihood of Bortles turning it around and not just getting back to 2015 - but getting better than he was in 2015 is really hard for me to see.  I've frankly never seen it.

You need a QB that can accurately hit the guys that are open.  It starts with that.  A natural, accurate passer.  Learning how to throw should've been done in college and high school.  You don't draft a QB at #3 who still has to figure out how to throw the ball.

I'm just done having faith in anything.  Faith is believing in something without good evidence.  I think you're starting from scratch, QB wise.  Complete scratch.  Whoever wins the QB competition this offseason can play.

If Dave comes out with some bs saying "Blake is our guy" then that is the perfect reason to fire Dave as well.  Everyone else can see that Bortles is not the guy.  I'm not saying cut him.  But you put him and some other guys out there and let it play out.

Yes, I've stated in at least three threads that I'd fire Caldwell if his intent is to saddle a new HC with Bortles and no other option at QB.

I think he's smarter than that.

What if Caldwell and Khan announces that Tom Coughlin is the interim coach with the intent of being promoted to President of Player Personnel at the end of the season as well as consultant for hiring the next head coach? That way the interim coach (Coughlin) would have motivation for player evaluation (IE playing Allen over Bortles) and would give Coughlin hands on evaluation of the roster before he takes over the roll of President of Player Personnel?

But were they? I don't think our QB coaches have been really giving mixed signals. Everything I've heard last season (and even this season) was that the Jaguars were very welcoming of his work with House and his guys.

Jags named Doug Marrone interim coach just saw it on nfl network.

Not a shocking choice most probably expected this choice.

It's just one more speculation as to why his technique fell off of a cliff into a deep and dark chasm of ineptitude.

I don't remember any "welcoming."  Only that they'd "attempt to integrate" with what he was getting from House.

Scelfo and Hackett were his position coaches. They had input. One of them was fired, which means he definitely got something different from the next guy.

Fisch was fired and called out for being in Bortles' ear too much subsequently.

Olson was lauded as a guy that works well with young QBs. He had input.

Add Hackett and House and there is no way he didn't have conflicting advice/teaching methods.

I can see that the Jaguars need help BUT it is wrong to fire a family man before the holidays I think they could had waited until the holidays were over first. It's all about money! I think they should all be ashamed of themselves it isn't Gus's Fault that the Players just don't care.

He's getting paid through the end of next season. Why should they be ashamed?
Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Solution: new head coach, new offensive coordinator, new qbs coach, new playbook.

K.

Let's see that works out for Blake the Fake
