Doug Marrone named interim coach

#41

Quote:Should have just put him in as HC after Week 2.  I'm not saying we'd be winning the division if Marrone was the Head Coach after the San Diego loss, but I think we'd only be a game back at this point.

The Jaguars wasted this season because Caldwell and our owner suck at making the tough decisions.  I'm glad Gus is fired.  But I'm still pretty salty with the Front Office at the moment

You know what this peevs me as well.  That thumping in San Diego was the canary in the coal mine.  Ooh two squeaker wins sure showed things were going in the right direction until that Titans loss.  Oh wait that is a short week game and even though we all talked on Monday there wasn't an effort problem look at the second half....

UGHHHHHH  the management of this team is killing my fandom.  I'm turning into a darn individual player fan and I never thought that would happen.

I'm a Jacksonville Ramsey's fan.  Go go Team Telvin.  Man the Jacksonville White Albino Tiger Lee's are playing some fierce football right now.

Please, and thank you.

Quote:It's possible. However, I think it's unlikely because of how long it took Shad Khan to replace Gus Bradley. Two games doesn't seem like enough of a time frame for Doug Marrone to make a strong enough case to be the Jaguars next regular HC. He probably will get an interview though.

Interim head coaches seem to always get an interview by their current teams just because. Mike Mularkey is the only one I can think of who was named the permanent HC unless I am forgetting somebody.

This is exactly why we're a bottom feeder franchise. Villagers who've never had electricity and sit around chewing Betal Nuts all day could see Bradley was toast after the Titans game and that there was nothing to be gained by prolonging the agony. Had they made this move then, we'd have had a shot at salvaging the season and finding out if Marrone has the goods. Now we get neither opportunity. Plenty of reason to question Caldwell and Khan over this mess that accomplished zero.

Can't have Betal Nuts without Betal Guise.

Not saying that's what I want this just feels awfully familure. Gene Smith's last year Mike Mularkey type hire is what we feel like is coming. I know the popular consensuses is Caldwell's job is fine and he's going to have the ability to hire a savior to turn this ship wreck around, but I fear he's on a short leash and will have to settle for a Marone type hire and hope for the best.

I just hope this time Caldwell doesn't pass on a proven coach like Andy Reid for a HC novice coordinator.

Gus Bradley was a proven assistant and not a novice coordinator.

Can you name a proven coach Caldwell passed on the first time?

He literally said Andy Reid in his post.

Andy Reid was already getting the Chiefs job. If people want to talk about proven coaches they need to think about who was available at the time.

HC stands for head coach. Head Coach novice. First time Head Coach. Get it?

Ah so i can`t use Andy Reid because he disproves your point got it.

Before he signed with the Chiefs it was considered all but a lock that he was going to the Arizona Cardinals so obviously there was a shot we just took to long looking for a GM.

He never interviewed with the Cardinals. The whole "Reid will be Arizona's coach" rumor was crap. I remember it.

Did you miss my post about Shad Khan deciding to wait until he hired a GM and then getting him involved in the HC hiring?

So you have sources for that? If not its an opinion.

Just because there wasn`t an in person meeting doesn`t mean he wasn`t interviewed.

Lots of people reported the Cardinals, people with far more contacts and knowledge of the Cardinals then you.
