Caldwell Presser Notes Live

Quote:I didn't come away with that as the feeling that he "wasn't comfortable" with Dave. See I heard it the way the others are saying. That Gus wasn't necessarily "his guy"
IT WAS ALWAYS THE JAGS

Quote:The video is on NFL.com and he was asked if he would hire someone he wasn`t comfortable with and said yeah I did that with Gus"Not that I wasn't COMFORTABLE with him but I had no prior experience with Gus. I had no prior relationship with him.... If that's what's right for the organization, then that's the way I've always been." Are we just ignoring that ^ part? Quote:"Not that I wasn't COMFORTABLE with him but I had no prior experience with Gus. I had no prior relationship with him.... If that's what's right for the organization, then that's the way I've always been."Heard it, felt it was more of a PR move. If you want to take it as him being fine with Gus i`m ok with that, I`m not saying i`m right or wrong its just my opinion. Quote:"Not that I wasn't COMFORTABLE with him but I had no prior experience with Gus. I had no prior relationship with him.... If that's what's right for the organization, then that's the way I've always been."Still sounds to me like Gus wasnt his ideal guy. Sure, he may not have been advocating to stay away but I dont think Gus was at the top of Daves list the way he spoke...thats for sure. Doesnt mean Dave wasnt good with the hire, as I think Dave likes Gus. Just doesnt seem like he was the guy Dave wanted. Quote:LOL Break up with that woman if she is too annoying to live with. All you have is you. If you aren't willing then you'll never change if that's something you desire to do. No one has any influence over your own actions. Personal accountability is your responsibility as an adult of sound mind. It by no means falls on others. Ever. I'm just downplaying the "Gus wasn't Dave's choice" narrative that seems to be picking up steam around here. He clearly had his vote in the matter and went along. I like Dave, and I feel certain he's learned form this particular mistake, but I'm not reading too much into it the that question and answer.
By the time Khan and Dave got to flying around the country .....weren't most of the good coach prospects already taken?
Can't remember... ![]()
Because Jaguars is our mantra

Was close to going to Philly before us... Quote:By the time Khan and Dave got to flying around the country .....weren't most of the good coach prospects already taken? We were one of the last teams to sign a coach. He clearly had his vote in the matter and went along.I like Dave as well, I think he gets to much flack for Gus and that`s more of the point i`m getting at with his comment. He wasn`t the only one with say and because of that he shouldn`t be the only one to catch the blame for the hire.
Quote:Sweet! Noooooo! We've been there and done that. It's time for new blood. Quote:Noooooo! We've been there and done that. It's time for new blood. That was a lifetime ago. He is new blood for this team.
Quote:Which is exactly why Caldwell is smart. Listening to Marvin Lewis do his Monday presser this afternoon is just like listening to Gus Bradley. Lewis is about as intimidating as a "yap yap" dog and he can't understand why his positive messages to the players aren't working. He's been in Cincinnati 14 years and no playoff wins. Do we really want that? I don't. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today! Quote:Noooooo! We've been there and done that. It's time for new blood. What? Tom is respected across the entire league. Has won multiple SBs and been in even more playoff games. No new blood. Gus was new blood. We need proven, Winner's blood.
Quote:Would you guys be happy if Marrone was selected as the head coach? God, No!
Quote:By the time Khan and Dave got to flying around the country .....weren't most of the good coach prospects already taken? We were behind in the search because other teams did not want to hire a GM first and get him involved in the HC hiring process. I don't think some of the coaches we missed out on that way would have had any interest in the Jaguars job anyway, but yeah, going the GM-first-HC-second route cost us chances to interview Andy Reid and Bruce Arians.
Quote:I wouldn't trade a 1st Rd pick for a coach unless their last name starts with Beli and ends with chick........... 2nd rd, there's more options. Me too. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Quote:@jasoncolebr #Jaguars also have Kyle Shanahan on their list of coaching candidates. Obviously, he'll be popular. YES! Quote:Uhhhhh...... yes it is. He can coach for another 4-5 years. Thats well long enough to get this org. Back on track and find a successor under Tom. Carroll is like 66 and I think hes definitely got more than a few years left. |
