What scouts are saying about Teddy Bridgewater
|
Quote:But would you say Bridgewater is "elite" at mobility/ avoiding the rush? I don't know that I'd go quite that far. Thats why my comment was that I think Bridgewater is good, even very good at basically everything asked from a QB.....but I don't see him as "elite" in any one aspect.Just like some thought Geno was easily the number one last year. In other words this is a sucky draft class and our only alternative is wait a year for some better passers to become available. Considering Chad Henne is below average in every category, we don't need an elite player to see an immediate upgrade.
Quote:Just like some thought Geno was easily the number one last year. At this point last year, everyone said Geno Smith will be #1. It makes you wonder if maybe Teddy will fall to our pick even if we trade down.
I wouldnt be surprised if Clowney goes first to the Texans and Matthews goes 2nd to the Rams and we take Barr. I could live with the Teddy pick but I dont even think he ends up being the best QB in this class.

I read the Texans are a quarterback away from returning to the playoffs and new head coaches often want their own quarterbacks. Any other player at #1 would surprise everybody who knows anything about the 2014 draft. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Quote:I read the Texans are a quarterback away from returning to the playoffs and new head coaches often want their own quarterbacks, so anyone not named Teddy would be a shocker at #1.Jay Cutler could be a possibility for the Texans and yes I think Barr will be a top 10 pick. A lot of boards have Barr at 2 overall behind Clowney. Quote:I read the Texans are a quarterback away from returning to the playoffs and new head coaches often want their own quarterbacks, so anyone not named Teddy would be a shocker at #1. If this is the case then it would make a bit more since for the Texans to go after a veteran QB like Cutler instead of a rookie QB. The Texans window of opportunity is closing and McNair may not have the patience to wait for a rookie QB to develop.

Quote:But its all about the frame. Wrong, wrong and wrong again. Firslty, define "frame"... Secondly, I would love to hear any evidence to support your claim that "WHen you have a small frame, you can lift weights all you want, and the results are not only going to be limited, but you could set yourself up for an increased chance of injury if you overdo it." You can't just assert things. You can say they are your opinion, that is fine - but asserting this as fact is simply wrong.

Now Josh McCown is thinking about retiring. Cutler said he wants to stay in Chicago. Name another FA QB who can start next year for the Texans. We show less advertisements to registered users. Quote:LOL... now that the air has come out of the tires on the Teddy short bus, only now does TMD jump off it. You act like the MB is the only group whose been fawning over TB. He's been highly rated for a long while. Some have said he is the best QB prospect since Luck, others have said he is much better than RGIII, and his time in a pro style offense translates much better to the NFL than other recent QBs. Excuse us board members for at least having the balls, you obviously lack, to actually formulate an opinion instead of bashing others for your lack of thereof, and its not because Teddy is a some run of the mill, highly overrated QB. Its clearly the opposite which is why so many including the analysts are high on him. Beyond him most have been saying Clowney, Barr, Matthews, and Mack which are reasonable possibilities given how early it is before the draft. Quote:Vick Is he a free agent after this season? Does he want to leave Philadelphia for a starting job? Are the Eagles looking for a new backup quarterback? Do the Texans want a former dogfighter? The Texans may not have the same "build throgh the draft" philosphy that the Jaguars prefer, but they might decide Vick is not an option for them or the Eagles might want to retain Vick.

Here's the scoop....Bridgewater has been on the winning end of a lot of football scores, but he is NOT an elite prospect. He is NOT playing elite-level football at a lesser level of collegiate competition. This typically does NOT translate well at the pro level.
The probability is very high there is something else going on at Louisville responsible for the over-all success they've had. To casual football fans it seems logical to draft a quarterback throw him on the field and win Super Bowls. Even if Bridgewater was an elite quarterback prospect, it simply means he has all the skills (strong arm, pin-point accuracy, mobility, etc.) polished to elite standards and demonstrated at the college level he consistently has all the intangibles it takes to make his new NFL team immediate Super Bowl contenders. We really need to continue to load up the roster with the best players available regardless of their position. The brief late season surge the Jaguars had is fool's gold.

That's a weak argument. At this time last year, most fans and media were already off the Geno-wagon by mid college season. As far as NFL prospect is concerned, they aren't close to each other.

Seriously, your posts can be even worse than that 13 year-old HeeRo. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Bridgewaters poise and awareness are possibly the best I have seen in college football since I've been watching for the past ten years.
He throws open his receivers some of the best I've seen. And his ability to read a defense and make good decisions. Those are his elite traits.
Coughlin when asked if winning will be a focus: "What the hell else is there? This is nice and dandy, but winning is what all this is about."
Quote:But what fun would that be?????If comedy was his intention, it has to actually make sense for it to be funny. Both Geno and TB are black QBs, so that must mean they are the same when they enter the NFL. AmIdoingdisrite?
this thread is really silly. Teddy will have an easy transition to the pros, and barring injury will have a very good career. I don't know that I see him becoming a premier QB, but his floor is very high. He is a perfect fit for the Texans, and they are going to pick him first overall.
If they botch the pick, and we scoop him up at three then I will be happy we are set for the foreseeable future at QB. If he is gone we will have a shot at some great pass rushing prospects and I will still be happy. This will be a good draft to be a Jags fan, just enjoy it. |
