Sometimes good people aren't in a good job fit.  Just not sure this is the best utilization of his talents.  Clearly he has had a lot of success or else he wouldn't have made it to this level.  But clearly something is lacking in his skillset in terms of being a head coach of an NFL team.

 

I'm sure he'll land on his feet.  

 

I think Gus will make a tremendous 2nd coach somewhere. There's a lot of hate for him, but just looking at the reactions from Shad, Dave, Doug, and the players, everyone of these people respected him. I know one of the schtick when Doug was hired was that he was hired to replace Gus. Listening to Doug yesterday and you can clearly tell that wasn't the case. Doug really *did* want to work with Gus, and the firing of Gus was like a gut punch to him. 

 

Gus should step back from coaching to look at a few things:

 

1. Build a better staff. The inexperienced lot he started out here doomed him. 

2. Find a way how he can be a better disciplinarian while still maintaining a positive attitude.

 

I think just by doing those two things, he can be greatly improved the 2nd time around.

Should of kept him one more year. Just needed a new offensive coord, New rbs, new o linemen, and new QB

Absolutely! I've been in a situation before that I was ill equipped to deal with and was floundering terribly until the day I got 'relieved' and was put in a job that I was far better suited to. Just so you know, I'm referring to a job I had in the military, so it wasn't as if I had a choice about turning it down. But yes indeed, I was very happy to get 'fired' from that job and put where I could excel instead of fail.

It's an excellent opportunity for growth - personally and professionally.  Particularly if the company and or role has become a stale situation.

 

Sometimes it's hard to get perspective staring at the same four walls years on end.

 

Whether you realize it or not, sometimes you just need to get out of your element for your own good.
