Good Thing no one told the Packers this when they grabbed Jordy Nelson in the second round a few years back. Apparently Belichick didn't get the Memo with Welker, Edelman, and Woodhead (who's a poor man's version of McCaffrey IMO) and before his ACL tear in week 2 has been dynamite for the Chargers and Pats. You find football players where you find Football players, there are plenty of concerns about McCaffrey but his race isn't one of them.. OUTTTTAAAAA here with this garbage. 

 

 

 

You're talking about WR's. That's a completely different thing. Of course white guys can play WR. Plenty have been successful. I'd have no problem drafting a white WR. Then you talk about Woodhead, but he is a role player. He isn't a premier runner. He has always split carries, because he just isn't a feature RB. You don't spend high round picks on RB's who have to split carries. You only do that for every down runners.

I think he will go pretty early, but man WR Corey Davis out of Western Michigan looks special. No chance the Jags grab him, but another player I like that the Jags can get deep is Marlon Mack RB out of USF.

It's a short cut. You can't take short cuts in talent evaluation, because you eliminate players from consideration. I had a friend who told me the Jags should not draft Khalil Mack because he was from the University of Buffalo. That was a mental short cut that had nothing to do with Mack's actual talent. People like to say things like, we should only draft players from major schools, or only from the SEC. Those are short cuts that eliminate great players from consideration. The Hall of Fame is full of guys from small schools. Jerry Rice, Walter Payton, Deacon Jones.


What if I was needing to hire a mathematician. Should I say, don't being me any black candidates, only bring be Jewish candidates?


It's not like we have millions of guys who can play NFL football and we need to be efficient in how we select people for evaluation. We have plenty of time and resources to fully evaluate McCaffrey as a prospective NFL player. We don't need to eliminate him with some kind of mental short cut like, he's white, let's not even evaluate the guy.


I want to see McCaffrey's 40 time. I know the guy is a great college football player, but his 40 time will tell me a lot about how he will translate to the next level.


By the way, if you think white people aren't fast, McCaffrey's grandfather won the silver medal in the 100 meter dash in the Olympics. That was on this mother's side. His father was an NFL player, and his mother's father was an Olympic sprinter and Duke University's "Athlete of the Century."

agreed, there has been no white RBs to come out with McCafffrey's talent and skill set since i have been around. Hes a different player and a rare breed

He can play DE and DT, can rush the QB and stop the run, whats there not to like? He has 8.5 sacks

McCaffrey could end up being a better receiver at this level like his father Ed was. Jordy Nelson is a great WR at this level. And if he ends up in New England or Kansas City they'll figure out a way to take advantage of his skill set. Shame on us all if he ends up in the hands of Dallas to compliment Elliot next year.

It's hard to compare one player to another, players are really unique.   But if I had to find a comparison, I would compare McCaffrey to Percy Harvin or Reggie Bush.   Or maybe Darren Sproles.   Kind of a home run hitter.   Really hard to corral when he gets into open space.

The thing about talented defensive linemen is, there's no limit to how many you can play.  The go in in waves.  It's not like drafting an offensive lineman or a QB, where the backups hardly ever play unless there's an injury.   Every team in the league can make use of a talented defensive lineman, no matter how many talented defensive linemen they already have.

Yeah, the SB winning G-Men had like 6 all-pro Dline guys when they made their run.

I wouldn't mind adding Allen to the group of guys we currently have.

 

Also... there is some idea that maybe a new coach will have Fowler at LB instead of DE, and if Marks and some other Vets leave... we'll probably have a bit of a need to bolster the Dline.

Why not add some youth and talent like Allen
