According to Ryan O Caldwell was at practice during the time Coughlin was here. Which would mean that Caldwell was not present at the meeting Tom was at.


Does this mean anything? Tom being interviewed for GM/Football op? Or perhaps just hot steam from Ryan O

you're right - i missed the part where coughlin was there during practice while caldwell was AT practice.

 

It could be that he was interviewing with someone else at the time.

Seems like a ton of speculation on Ryan Os part. Perhaps nobody told him all the details of Toms visit so he's having to fill them in himself.

i think that would unfortunately be a waste.

 

the best thing about Tom is the fact that he is a very good coach.  He's not known for being an excellent GM or front office person.

 

Also, I don't want some glorified front office position to appease fans and say "hey look we got Coughlin back"... if he is going to be back - let the man coach this team.

Big TC fan but like a lot of people don't know about the age thing. At 71 he coaches what maybe 2 or 3 years. Is he already starting to lose the edge? The Giants were 6-10 last year and 10-5 this year.

They also spent a stupid amount of money in free agency and had another draft which has a lot to do with there better record.

Generally, for candidates who are seriously interviewed, theres multiple interviews. Usually theres not everyone in every interview. Also, practice isnt an all day thing. Could have met with Khan and co. during practice hours.

I would not be opposed to Marrone, but it would be a tough to sell to the fanbase in general. There just isnt enough of game experience with this guy. Had we fired Bradley after the Thursday Night game and hired Marrone as the interim coach then maybe we would of got a better idea of Marrone. But two meaningless games after the head coach was fired is just not enough to convince me the is the right guy. Team played well last week, but I'm not convinced that Doug Marrone was the reason they played so well. This is the same guy that walked out on the Bills, I'm just not convinced. Id rather go a different approach. 

But yet people want to replace Blake with a guy with less then 5 starts.

Imagine that.  Using evidence and reason.  Clearly beyond many posters on the board.

 

Well it would help if you looked at the Giants roster in 2014 and 2015 yourself. But feel free to ignore evidence that contradicts your opinion if you want. The amount of defensive players that played significant time those two years and then immediately disappeared from the league is a little alarming. Those are personnel issues. The Giants clearly had personnel issues on defense in those years which is why their record suffered. How much input Coughlin had on brining in personnel I don't know, but Jerry Reese is ultimately responsible for it and from the looks of it he hamstrung the Giants defense pretty good by not bringing in better talent sooner.

Bill with a bunch of no bodys won the superbowl.  The panthers with a bunch of nobodys got into the championship game.  Delrio with hardly anyone made the afc championship game.  So really?  No evidence?  Or the fact ya hanging on to the 90s.
