After the way the Jags won on Saturday, ending their 9 game losing streak and finally winning their first game, this season, in front of the hometown fans, against the hated, and tied for 1st place tacks, Marrone looked like one of the best head coaches out there today...............................................................................................................But it was only 1 game. It really is unfortunate that he is only going to get 2 games as interim HC to end the Jags 2016 season,

Damn, interviewing Tom before the season is over kinda feels like a slap to the face of Marrone imo. Idk if Doug is really a candidate or not, but it must be hard to feel like you have a legitimate shot at being the permanent successor when they're interviewing guys for the job you're still doing.
Whatever though. If they felt like they needed to strike while the iron was hot, then screw Doug's feelings. I love how cutthroat the league can be, although I think one day it's gonna come back to bite someone. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
There was definitely an energy and swagger the team had this past game that has been missing for a WHILE. Tennessee was supposed to have a vaunted line which we abused all game. They were supposed to have an "exotic smashmouth" running game which stayed bottled up for the most part. Doug had the team tight together but playing loose, which is more than I can say about Gus. This was the most fun game I've been too in YEARS.

If they lose, it doesn't mean he won't be considered. Marrone will interview but I don't think he gets it. Looking like a young Tom? Yikes. Quote:A great coach makes the most out of the players they have. Bill with a bunch of no bodys won the superbowl. 1 The panthers with a bunch of nobodys got into the championship game. 2 Delrio with hardly anyone made the afc championship game.3 So really? No evidence? Or the fact ya hanging on to the 90s. We'll step into the future. This is not 99 tom. This is 2017 tom. at 71 years old. And the last two seasons went 0-6 and 2-8. 1. Are you talking about Bill Belichick? If so, when did he ever have "a bunch of nobodies?" In 2001, his defense included first round draft picks Ty Law, Richard Seymour, Willie McGinest, Tebucky Jones, in addition to Lawyer Milloy (2nd round pick) Ted Johnson (2nd round pick) and Roman Phifer (2nd round pick). They also had Tedy Bruschi on that defense as well. 2. To what Panthers team do you refer when you say they made the championship game? What year? If 1996, they had a veteran laden team, especially on defense, including Pro Bowlers Sam Mills, Kevin Greene, Lamar Lathon, Greg Kragen, and CB Eric Davis. 3. Del Rio never coached a team that went to the AFC Championship game. He went to the divisional round here in Jacksonville, and this is the first year he has made the playoffs with Oakland, and hasn't made the championship game there yet. Worst to 1st. Curse Reversed!
Every January, poor Byron Leftwich suffers a bout of ptsd that stems from Willie McGinest sacking him 4.5 times (a NFL playoff record, by the by) in that one playoff game where we got dismantled in the first round on national television 28-3.
It's a tough time of the year for Jaguars and their fans alike. We get the ghosts of NFL future, past, and present, all at the same damn horrible time. At least I have my birthday to look forward to, and even that is but another mandatory step towards an unavoidable and sure-to-be uneventful death. Sigh. Go Waddlers. I don't know whether to feel your pain, or just be happy we scored in either of those tightly contested matches. I highly doubt Doug is even remotely phased by them interviewing Tom this week. The reason why he has the interim job in the FIRST place, is because they wanted to be able to start the search/interviews. He knows he's a bit of a long shot to get the job, and that he has very little chance of showing enough in 2 games to really make a strong case. These guys are professionals at the highest level. Their feelings aren't hurt by such trivial things. He knows how the business works. Believe me, he's got his blinders on, focused only on his job right now as the interim and making his own case. He's not spending any time or energy worrying about anyone elses interviews.

Some of you are getting way to carried into one win. Its one win and we dont know how much Dough Marrone had to do with that. 1 win, not a season, 1 win. Players play and coaches coach and theres many factors that play into wins and losses. The players showed up, period. A lot of them had a ton of respect for Bradley and maybe some of them played tough for Bradley after he was fired.
1 win, not a season, 1 win. Doug Marrone has a tough road to get a look as head coach. Whether you want to believe it or not, Tom Coughlin is at the top of their list. I dont know if he comes or not, but I can assure you Tom Coughlin and the Jaguars is not a rumor, but a fact and both parties are interested in a reunion. I would not be opposed to Doug Marrone but I also dont think two games is enough to judge whether he is the right answer as the coach, plus his questionable decision to quit on Buffalo. I think the Jags need an experienced head coach who will bring discipline and a winning culture. Tom Coughlin is the perfect fit right now and the age factor is nonsense. Tom will absolutely change the culture of the team. Playoffs is not a guarantee but this team absolutely will be competing till the very end, something we have lacked for a long time. I didn't say you had "no evidence", I said you ignored evidence that contradicted you. You're free to arrive at a different conclusion, but ignore information at your own detriment. Quote:2014 Giants You can arrive at any conclusion you want on the above info. It looks to me like a lot of defensive players that got starts for them in his final two years ended up on the street the following year. Many of those guys probably weren't starter material to begin with or were in the twilight of their career playing at a much lower level than they once had. A quick look at 2013 shows them letting Linval Joseph walk in free agency which in retrospect looks like a big mistake. Also, Eli had 29 turnovers in 2013 (27 Ints, 2 fumbles lost). They went 7-9 in 2013. I believe the only reason Jerry Reese wasn't let go when Coughlin was is because he had just hit a home run by drafting Odell Beckham the year before. But the lack of attention to the defensive side of the ball is evident. And as a result, the lack of production there is not surprising.
Sam Kouvaris tweet from about 15 minutes ago:
"As it appears the Jaguars have moved on from the idea of Tom Coughlin as the head coach the criteria are: HC experience, winner, tight ship" Can't find another message like this elsewhere.

Quote:Sam Kouvaris tweet from about 15 minutes ago: Quote:I'm not even sure what that means lol I'm with Holster on this one.. that tweet makes no sense. Moved on from Coughlin because they want an experienced head coach who's proven to be a winner and runs a tight ship? That's literally the definition of Coughlin. Perhaps some grammatical failings in that tweet causing 2 statements to run together?

Quote:I'm not even sure what that means lol Yeah, it's totally contradictory. Quote:I highly doubt Doug is even remotely phased by them interviewing Tom this week. The way he comes off and the things I have read about his personality....i dont think he cares. He is going to go out there and do the job the best he can and if it helps him get the job then great, if it doesnt, he will put his efforts into something else and do the best he can. he comes off as a stand up, no nonsense guy who is very football smart and doesnt buy into all the drama and the distractions.
