Thats not how a business operates. Your talking about a multi billion dollar business with owners worth billions of dollars, at the end of the day, the owner who forked out the money is going to have the final say in any organizational decision. 

 

I dont think you understand how businesses operate. An employee isnt going to go around firing people without the CEO/Owner being atleast aware of it. 

 

At that level it includes the CEO's approval. We're talking about the  #3 or #4 guy in the whole billion dollar organization, you don't just fire that guy on your own accord.

Every organization isn't run the same.. Besides we resigned Gus to another year and still fired him.. So words really mean nothing when it comes to the business aspect..

Everyone knew, and it was said repeatedly at the time, that the 1 year extension meant nothing for Gus's longevity here.


Let's not forget who was the one making the public statements about keeping Gus. It was Khan, not Caldwell.

Dave Caldwell has full control of the personnel decisions of this football team. That doesn't mean he doesn't have a boss or has to follow a chain of command. Any move he makes is under constant scrutiny and he probably has to run it by a chain of people and it be it be agreed upon.

 

The coach isnt getting fired in any organization without a chain of command agreeing that the move needs to be made.

Tough to say. As a person who bought into Caldwell's approach, I feel like I'm having second guesses. Sure, theres talent there and I absolutely agree better coaching is needed. But lets not forget who hired that coach, lets also not forget who has been drafting the past 4 years. Jockel, Cyprien, Bortles, Yeldon, just to name a few. I dont think Gipson made an impact at all this season, I guess you can say I'm cherry picking but theres some pretty big misses in that span of 4 years. Starting with the head coach. 

 

Dave Caldwell probably will be here next year, but his job security absolutely should be under question.

Exactly. That 1 year extension was nothing more than a business decision that would avoid free agents passing on the team because of a lame duck coach in the final year of his contract. Otherwise, the extension was meaningless. You'd think some here were writing the checks paying Gus.

Im not sold that Bortles is a bust. I think theres talent there, but he absolutely deserves to be under scrutiny right now after how he has played last year. Ill say Caldwell outside of Jalen Ramsey hasn't had a home run in any other personnel decision, that to me is concerning and he needs to be reevaluated.

Conveniently ignoring the fact that it's already been said that Caldwell didn't hire Gus on his own. It was a joint decision between Dave, Mark, and both Khans. One that Dave didn't seem willing to own during his press conference recently.


We're not going to bother going down the wretched 2013 draft class argument again... you conveniently ignore that as well.


As for Blake, we'll just have to see which is the real Bortles. He's shown promise, and he's shown some concerning things. He's basically got one last shot to prove he can play at this level.

Dave also drafted Smith, Ramsey, Jack and Ngakoue. As well as signing Jackson and Amukamara.

The 2, 4 yr vets are bums. House, Prince, Gipson need to go. I like Cyprien he reminds me of Bob Sanders for his size and he isn't afraid to come up and hit like some of the others. Do you think the 2 Vets will be better next year cause it was the system that they were new to.

No but we should've been smart enough to not try and chase unicorns. David's problem has always been this mythical scheme he wants to recreate in "seattle south". It's why he hired Gus, it's why we went and looked for Zone Blocking Lineman, it's why we went and looked for this LEO and OTTO garbage and took tweeners at the top of the draft, it's why we ushered off other players that didn't fit the scheme Daryl Smith and Terrence Knighton. 

 

A good GM focuses on talent and then lets the coaches develop a scheme based on the personnel. David's [BLEEP] backward way of doing things is to limit the pool of players that he thinks can play this mythical scheme he's dreamed up and pick the best of that bunch.
