Should we draft Mixon? (merged threads)

Only if every RB on the roster gets to tee off a free haymaker to his face first. Which I imagine would get him concussed by Ivory. So no. Better RBs out there anyway, I don't think he's coming out this year, and this draft is deep at RB.
I jest about the RB on RB violence, and I'm sure the woman was asking for it, but you don't punch women unless your life is in danger. Hope he learned from it and grows to be a good man, but I'm not interested in him.
Oh he was just mixed up and KO'd a woman. We have all been there amiright?!
Mixon can fall down a well.
If he feels bad, wouldn't he have made the public statement after it happened instead of after the video was released?

I feel the same way as I do about Ray rice, Ben Roethlisberger, Geg Hardy, Jameis Winston and the rest of them. I believe in second chances but it's about time NFL teams start blacklisting these guys and being more consistent with how to deal with these incidents, and I understand it's tough when in most cases a player will get off because of their celebrity status, or the players can pay people off. I don't want to be part of the problem, I'm not going to be the fan that starts making excuses for rape, assault and other forms of violence. I don;t care where you came from or if you've had a bad day or are too young, whatever. They have resources available and know the consequences, to make the right choices. Those guys can play somewhere else, I don't care how good at a game they are.
It will be interesting to see if a team does draft, or sign him as an UDFA. I personally wouldn't want us to be that team, but I wouldn't be surprised if a team does end up picking him up despite what he has done.
I have seen some suggest that the presence of a video will prevent him from ever playing in the NFL. Why should that be the case when a player that pleaded guilty to choking and punching their pregnant girlfriend be allowed to play in the league? I suppose seeing the crime is the difference, but if someone is guilty and admits it, gets given three years probation, and a team happily drafts that person then I see that as a problem. If one guy is guilty and a video is present and that bars him from the league, then the other guy that is guilty without the video should be barred from the league. Either that or both guys should be allowed to play in the league and get that second chance. I don't believe one should be treated differently to the other when both have committed the same crime and been found guilty of the same crime. It should be the same way for both. Should players get a second chance? I'm 50-50 on it. On the one hand I don't like the idea of a team giving someone that has committed a serious offence a ton of money and celebrity status. But on the other, if that person shows remorse and has learned from their mistake, and becomes a model professional and citizens and tries to help educate other people, then giving them that second chance has been worthwhile. Also, if giving that person a second chance prevents them from going down the wrong path because everyone has given up on them and the world has shunned them (that shouldn't be an excuse but people that are given up on are more likely to reoffend and go off on the wrong path), then that can be a positive. Obviously that second chance may not make their victims feel better about it because they will be "stuck" in a normal life whereas the offender may have millions in the bank, a fancy car, fancy home (etc) and celebrity status. So it's a difficult one. Apparently Tyreek Hill has been a model professional since coming into the league. He pays child support. He's paying his debt to society. And working his tail off. So perhaps he has learned from his mistake and that second chance has been beneficial for him. That doesn't make what he did go away or not wrong, but it if doesn't reoffend and is a model citizen throughout the rest of his career and life then that second chance has worked.
That's pretty tough. Unless he's shown that he's changed, I think you pass on him. Last thing you want is to take a chance on him and he does something like this again. That GM is going to look like a moron.

I'm tired of having a team full of choir boys. You have to be a little bit insane to play football. Look at Jerruh Jones, he signs every degenerate he can get his liver spotted hands on and the Cowboys are a powerhouse. I just want players that can help us WIN GAMES for once, I don't care if they kick baby seals or punch old ladies.

Dude could have just walked away and laughed all the way to the bank. There's a line you have to draw for this kind of behavior.

What exactly does a woman do to "ask for it"?

What did she do to "ask for it"? Did you watch the video? In no way was his reaction justified, but by the same token, women can't just go around hitting people and think that it's ok just because they are women. She isn't innocent.
