Marrone new HC

Been going back and forth on Marrone the last few weeks. Was happy yesterday if he was hired but got my hopes up for Mike Smith so its a let down.

I'm not sure on Caldwell,Bortles or Khan at all but I am pretty certain that this time at least the HC will be expected to get Ws. Marrone knows that so we will either win and we'll be happy are we will lose like normal and he will be gone along with Caldwell, Bortles and Marrone.

This is my rational take , I'll probably be anti-Marrone in the next half hour or so.

Which is fine and all, but why would Caldwell say the opposite of that in his presser when Gus was fired?
Coach talk. He could plan on cutting Bortles tomorrow and he would still say "Bortles is the guy" if you asked him today.

The same reason he said Gus wasn't his guy?

Because he's a snake.

Josh McDaniels had Tom Brady to work with.  What is it about the Jags that makes you think he could pick up where he left off in NE? He certainly didn't in KC.

Quote:Actually it's a way of quitting with out taking a hit for quitting. It was reported a lot that he wasn't meshing with management and players and wanted an out before he got canned.

In his defense it was the Bills.
It was worded in the contract before he was even hired. That precludes anything that happened while he was a coach.

It shouldn't be that hard of a concept to understand.

What lies behind us, and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.

Stepping back from the emotion (or lack of) of this pick for a moment, it might not be that bad.  You get some (hopefully) positive continuity from the good aspects of the coaching staff (everyone except Gus).  I was at the Titans win, and i believe that if an informal crowd vote could have been taken just at that moment, Marrone would have been hired on the spot.  So he's not a sexy pick, so what?  notwithstanding the end of the Colts game, the team looked like an entirely different squad with Marrone at the helm.  And better to start 2017 with lower expectations to sneak up on people than getting crowned division title contenders before a snap is even taken and then falling miserably short.  The sample size is small, but that doesnt mean that he cant win with this roster.  He certainly seemed more in control of this squad in 2 games than Bradley did in 4 years, as many posters on this site mentioned after the Titans win.  And Coughlin ssems to be ok with him, if you believe all the noise saying that he pushed to have him hired.  Give the guy a chance;  he probably wont get more than one year to prove himself anyway.
