Yeah... Think I'll eat my hat if someone isn't over drafting QB this year

Quote:No, I don't. I'm not gonna bet. I also think that teams know this is a very risky QB. I would say the failure rate for this class is about 75%. I just don't see any solid starters coming from this class.

This class beats last years class easy. I'd take Watson/Mahomes/Trubisky/Kizer over Wentz or Goff.

We can agree to disagree. I'd rank Wentz #1 in that group. He's the only one in that group that I can see as a successful future starter.

He'd probably be #2 or #3 for me. Goff would be last.

Goff and Kizer would compete for that last spot on my list.

I would love it if we drafted Jon Allen. Malik Jackson just had his career high in sacks and that was a great signing. Malik opened up ways for Yannick to get sacks. Adding Jon Allen would make our front 4 big and mean. We had a good defense but we are still 25th in points allowed per game and 19th in run defense. We can get better by adding Jon Allen to the D line because everything starts at the LOS.

Allen I thought did a good job. Clemson has a good offensive line, perhaps the best Bama has faced. Usually when a team plays Bama they have to switch up who they double team. In this game, Tim Williams was absolutely ineffective. I want to say they started the game off by chippin him with a back or TE but ended up scrapping that when they didn't have to. This allowed them to focus completely on Allen and even still I don't remember him getting pushed back. Having both Malik and Allen along the line would be HUGE. I think I'd prefer him over Myles Garrett

Pretty sure that would turn out to be a better duo than Stroud and Henderson.

That's a tall order my friend.

Would definitely rival that duo IMO.  Better?  Maybe.  As stated ^ tall order.

oh the draft talk is always fun.  projecting players is difficult but a fun topic.  I question whether Allen has the size to be a dominant inside DT?  He's under 300 lbs, would he get worn down as the game goes on?  I don't see how he can play meaningful snaps with Malik Jackson already on the roster.  I think the team will stay with one bigger DT and Malik Jackson on the inside.

He's above 290, it's not like he's that small, nor is he playing nose tackle.

sure - and that would be fine if you line him up next to a 320# guy that can take on double teams.

if both your DTs are 290ish, I think that's too small - especially when you consider ngakoue and fowler are about 250

For pass rushing he is plenty big enough to dominate inside. I think he would play DE for us in base and kick inside on nickel, which could be scary good.

so he's basically what Tyson Alualu was supposed to be when we drafted him?  same size too.

I'm not going to be completely against it - I just don't see him as a rare impact player.  he's not a freak by any stretch of the word.  Just seems like a good, solid overall player.. you can do a lot worse than him, but it would be the definition of a base hit kind of draft pick... a gene smith word I know.

now, granted - i do admit i'm no expert and i've only seen his highlights and a couple of games.... but I would like an athletic freak (like Ramsey) to be our choice if we're picking in the top 5.

Then you are probably going to be rooting for Tim WIlliams.

So sounds like we're sticking with a 4-3.  If Allen fell to us do we put him at end on running downs swapping out Ngakoue or Fowler, then on passing downs have Ngakoue, Jackson, Allen, Fowler out there in kind of a split where we have two 3-techs and/or stunts.  Just trying to think how to get Allen out there most downs.  Obviously if Jackson needs a breather that's the easiest scenario, but we'd ideally want both of those guys out there.
