Must take a QB with our 1st pick

Quote:Yea all those teams needs QBs way more then we do, no way Watson falls to 4
That poor guy is going to be wearing butt-stain brown for Cleveland!

Quote:If he is sitting there at 4, they have to take him. He's way better than Bortles. Bortles would have thrown a pick six and lost to Alabama if he started for Clemson last night.
No.

Bortles won his bowl game btw, against a good team too.

And Watson just beat Alabama for a National Championship...
IT WAS ALWAYS THE JAGS

That doesn't erase several years of film where he didn't progress through reads and was inaccurate and had questionable decision making.  See Vince Young.

Quote:Wait so 6'1" is too short to play QB now?

Also, if Watson is there at 4, you absolutely take him.

(And I'm a big Bortles supporter)

I agree 100

Hang it up.

We're not getting a QB in the first.

Bank on it.

The Browns, 9ers and Bears all need a QB more than we do.  If all 3 pass and we take him, we're back to playing smartest guy in the room.  We all know how that works out.

No way do we reach on these QBs at 4..... it's either a D-Lineman, safety, or RB.
Let's Get Em!!!! Go Jags!

If Sashi Brown, Ryan Pace and Tom Coughlin were in a room, Coughlin would, in fact, be the smartest football guy in the room.

If Coughlin's resume with the Jags and the Giants tells us anything, it's that we'll be drafting D-line at 4.

Not really seeing Watson at 4. What is everyone seeing against Bama that was so special? If the Bama offense doesnt pull a jags with the lead scenario then clemson loses and a big part would have been on Watson.

He routinely missed NFL throws , bailed from clean pockets , stared down targets and struggled to do anything outside of some nice rollouts on broken plays. A couple nice efforts by his WRs and TEs masked errant throws and added YAC yardage to his total.

His first five completions were all short passes and i got the sense he went from Gunslinger to Game Manager in front of a big time defense.

He does have heart and he fought through to a win but he is not a top 5 pick type of QB imo.

Only Trubisky and maybe MAYBE Kizer, if he knocks it out the park over the next 4 months. I'd take Mahomes in the 2nd if available. I want no parts of Watson. I've watched full games of all and his tape definitely translates the least. They dink and dunk and run QB option all game. Occasionally they'll throw a 50/50 ball downfield and his accuracy is not all that great. He has nice touch on his long ball, but his ball placement leaves something to be desired at every level. He's good about 12 yards and in. Anything more and it get's shaky. Receivers always have to reach and leave their feet to catch his passes. Trubisky, Kizer, Mahomes are making big league throws throughout the game.

Mahomes is the most intriguing of all the quarterbacks. He definitely has the skillset and athleticism. He would be a great pick in the 2nd round, but I'm afraid someone will take him ahead of the Jaguars in the 2nd like S.F. Coughlin and Caldwell cannot afford to 100% bank on Bortles to improve so acquiring a solid backup to compete will be one of their most important decisions in the offseason. There just doesn't appear to be a free agent worth the money so drafting someone in the 2nd or 3rd round would be the best option and Mahomes has the best upside of all the possibilities. If the staff "loves" him, they should move up a couple spots in the 2nd to take him. The Browns would gladly take another 3rd rounder which is what it might cost.

I still like Webb in the third/fourth depending on where his stock settles.

Don't think Mahomes will make it out of the first round. His stock is only going to go up from here on out.

I have him going to Chicago in round 2, but I could definitely see some team trading up into the bottom of round 1 to get him.

I think the Cardinals, Chiefs or Texans will take him in the first. Saints might be an option too.

Fortunately we pick ahead of Chicago in the 2nd round.
