Chip Kelly interviewing as OC

Kelly's system relies on
1. Quick reads 2. Intermediate accuracy 3. Ball placement. Bortles has NONE of that. This is what worries me.
We've brought up the skill players lost in Philly under chip, but I believe he also jettisoned their 2 veteran guards. I think this is overlooked when discussing the demise of his offense there.

Khan then Khan then Coughlin then Caldwell then other FO guys then Marrone then Kelly.
Quote:@alyssalangHow credible is that? Also, if he was hired, they are not doing a special press conference for him. He will be introduced after the entire staff is put together.

I'm not going to read through a dozen pages of comments, so apologies if any of this is redundant. I get why they're interviewing him. Coughlin coached against this guy for a couple of seasons, and Kelly had the better of him at the time. Tom knows the style of offense he runs, and actually likes his style of play according to this article.
https://www.yahoo.com/amphtml/sports/news/tom-coughlin-chip-kelly-have-fascinating-connection-and-it-could-come-full-circle-with-jaguars-193140711.html I think Kelly's desire to run the ball, and his pro style version of the read option might actually be beneficial to Bortles. It's interesting for sure. He'd be an instant upgrade over Hackett. However, the up tempo play calling that is intended to wear out defenses has a tendency to put a lot of strain on the defensive side of the ball. It would be interesting to see how willing he would be to changing things up a bit. At the end of the day, if the players don't execute the play calling precisely, nothing works. Doesn't matter how brilliant the coach is. They need to fix this Bortles thing and upgrade the running game in the draft if Kelly is the hire. Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

That's true, which is what makes the potential hire intriguing. Still, Bortles needs to improve significantly regardless of who is drawing up the plays. Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

We have a very young defense and the old guys can spell with the younger guys (Poz/Jack for example). Im on the fence, if he does get hired, great, It represents change and maybe a offensive minded guy like Chip can work with Blake and work on his strengths. I have been preaching this since halfway through this season, Blake was not playing to his strengths because the coaches would not let him. They completely changed his motion of how he throws the ball, told him to spread it out more in the offseason, essentially was forced to give it to Lee more and frankly, he regressed. Bortles isnt going to be Peyton Manning, but hes a good player who needs to be able to play the way he plays. Chips system absolutely benefits Bortles more than people might think. Quote:That's fine if you're scoring, which the offense wasn't this year. Well yeah but I wouldn't expect they'd hire a guy who would lead a low scoring offense. In an ideal world Kelly would come in, run an up-tempo offense with Blake excelling in the hurry up (which we should have been doing ever since he got here) and be scoring points.
I trust Coughlin and Marrone to make the best decision because none of those guys want will let anyone affect their plan of a winning culture. It's known about how the offense runs with Chip so I wouldn't be shocked to see his system tweaked and for momentum purposes see the up tempo wrinkle come in
Yall need to just stop. Kelly would be an instant upgrade to this putrid franchise.
