Let me add that Bortles was much more effective in a hurry-up offense.


 

I'm all for hiring Kelly as the OC.

 

 

It's not the hurry-up aspect that he excels at ... it's the no-huddle. Bortles does a great job seeing the field and improvising when he's not being dictated the plays. That's not what Kelly's offense is about. Kelly doesn't huddle, but he's dictating very specific plays from the sideline. There is so much about Kelly that is just wrong for this team, and for Coughlin to even consider him has me losing a little faith in his judgement of our roster.

I think it is funny. Everyone cries for a big name and then when we are possibly close to hiring a big name everyone cries that they don't want the Jags to hire him. I don't get this place sometimes.

Just because you have a recognizable name doesn't mean you're good. We aren't clamoring for big names here, we just want people with proven track records.

Agreed.  In Kelly's case the name far outweighs the "proven track record," which is nearly non-existent at the NFL level compared to what he accomplished in college.

Ha! Whats funny is I have a 6'11 cousin in Jacksonville that shared the front-court with a 6'11" ex schoolmate of mine (actually "Slim was a few years behind me) from here in New York. And they both won a championship with the actual Jacksonville Giants a couple/few yrs back.
