Schaub wasn't a great QB, but he was good enough to get the job done and keep us competition throughout 2011/2012. The problem is that Kubiak's offense got too one dimensional alot of the time and our defense was way too inconsistent down the stretch in big games.


If we had 2011 Schaub on this current Texans team, we would be much better contenders. We have to hope Brock can be at least similar to that.

Could Bortles screw that up? Sure, and pigs could fly. We've seen Bortles, we know what he's got. As long as he doesn't suffer a career ending injury he's going to be a franchise level QB for a long time.

 

 

I think we've all got different ideas of what a franchise level QB is & isn't. If you count Matt Stafford as an elite franchise QB... sure. It'll be hard for Bortles to screw that up.

I never said he was elite. Elite means in that Tom Brady/Drew Brees/Aaron Rodgers capable of carrying a mediocre team to exceptional results mould. I think Bortles can get to an elite level given a few more years of NFL seasoning, but I also think he's already franchise level, ie, you don't let him make it to free agency and you pay him and focus on everything else except for him because you believe you have a guy you can win with. Guys like Stafford are in a similar class, and I'd put guys like Carr, Romo, and Russell Wilson in it, too.

There is still a chance to knock them off next season, but we've got to fix the OL and the running game, especially if Watt comes back healthy (a dubious proposition). 

 

Tennessee appears to be a healthy Mariota, a stud WR and competent secondary play from being a perennial divisional contender.

 

As long as they have Luck, Indy will be dangerous, but the threat they represent will not be as much because of Grigson.

What scares me about Tennessee is they got next to nothing from Johnson (NT) and Dodd.

 

If these two guys develop, and they get a DB or two, their defense will be complete.

Saying he will never get past 4 would be bold. Double digit doesn't seem likely after all the injuries. Actually really being bold would say that he will get 12 sacks next season.

B. Have you seen Watt play? He played with 4 hernias and still got around 20.
