Impressions from the AFC South Draft thus far
|
Schaub wasn't a great QB, but he was good enough to get the job done and keep us competition throughout 2011/2012. The problem is that Kubiak's offense got too one dimensional alot of the time and our defense was way too inconsistent down the stretch in big games.
If we had 2011 Schaub on this current Texans team, we would be much better contenders. We have to hope Brock can be at least similar to that. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Quote:I can't believe anybody ranked Houston higher than Jacksonville.I know right, it is almost like they think the Texans won the AFC South last season instead of the Jaguars...idiots! Quote: Schaub wasn't playing from behind all the time and we had Foster to hand off to.Exactly. Those aren't numbers to sneeze at. If Bortles put up those kind of numbers this year, I'd be quite happy. Worst to 1st. Curse Reversed!
Quote: I think we've all got different ideas of what a franchise level QB is & isn't. If you count Matt Stafford as an elite franchise QB... sure. It'll be hard for Bortles to screw that up.

I never said he was elite. Elite means in that Tom Brady/Drew Brees/Aaron Rodgers capable of carrying a mediocre team to exceptional results mould. I think Bortles can get to an elite level given a few more years of NFL seasoning, but I also think he's already franchise level, ie, you don't let him make it to free agency and you pay him and focus on everything else except for him because you believe you have a guy you can win with. Guys like Stafford are in a similar class, and I'd put guys like Carr, Romo, and Russell Wilson in it, too. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Thought it would be good to revisit this discussion now that the regular season has been played.

Fuller was a good pick by houston otherwise I agree with the post draft analysis
Go Jags!
*To stay up for atleast 2 years 3/6/17 2016 draft players I think will be good
Quote:Fuller was a good pick by houston otherwise I agree with the post draft analysisFuller wound up much better than I thought. Fortunately, they still haven't found a good QB. There is still a chance to knock them off next season, but we've got to fix the OL and the running game, especially if Watt comes back healthy (a dubious proposition). Tennessee appears to be a healthy Mariota, a stud WR and competent secondary play from being a perennial divisional contender. As long as they have Luck, Indy will be dangerous, but the threat they represent will not be as much because of Grigson. Worst to 1st. Curse Reversed!
Quote:Fuller wound up much better than I thought. I'm going to make a bold Watt prediction. He never passes 12 sacks in a season again in his career. Tennessee is much closer than I thought they would be I agree with your assessment. Luck fills a lot of holes but that team lacks beef on the lines, and speed on defense. Offense is in good shape other than the line and Rbs. Houston is a qb away which bodes well for the rest of the division.

If these two guys develop, and they get a DB or two, their defense will be complete. Worst to 1st. Curse Reversed!
Quote:I'm going to make a bold Watt prediction. He never passes 12 sacks in a season again in his career. I don't think that Watt prediction is very bold. Seems pretty likely
IT WAS ALWAYS THE JAGS
Quote:Could Bortles screw that up? Sure, and pigs could fly. We've seen Bortles, we know what he's got. As long as he doesn't suffer a career ending injury he's going to be a franchise level QB for a long time.

Quote:would 10 be bold?Saying he will never get past 4 would be bold. Double digit doesn't seem likely after all the injuries. Actually really being bold would say that he will get 12 sacks next season. Yes, it's improvement, but it's Blaine Gabbert 2012 level improvement. - Pirkster The Home Hypnotist! Can we leave the personal insults behind for a while and get back to some semblance of topic, gents? Please, and thank you.
Fine I am gonna make a bold prediction that will meet anyone's criteria. Watt will get at least 16 sacks (6 against the Jags, 5 colts, 3 Titans, 2 in other games). Or he will get less than four and never be the same again ala Aaron Kampman
