He hasn't been hired yet, right?  So...  There is that.

If our options are between Kelly and Hackett, a few reasons:

1. Too many cooks in the kitchen for me, we have Doug Morrone who is a big personality, and Chip Kelly who has a specific scheme and a big personality . they will likely clash on many issues.

2. Kelly's scheme is incredibly specific to personell. I'm of the philosophy that players come before scheme. We don't have the personell to run his offense. The install of his scheme will take forever, likely till the week 8 of the regular season.

3. Marrone and Hackett already have a track record of having good chemistry.

4. I WANT Blake to be great, another O coordinator change will likely stall the process. Hiring a new O cord willl not give Blake a fair shake as if he's our guy or not.

5. Hackett didn't get a chance to run his own scheme here. I'd be curious to see what that is in conjunction with Marrones new position.

6. I love Hacketts interviews. He seems like a nice "good cop" to Marrones "bad cop". He's full of energy and he already has a good rapport with Blake.

I'm a Hackett fan. Thought he prepared the oline for assignments incredibly well considering the cards he was dealt with injuries at G and RB.

But in the end my opinion, as it should be, is irrelevant.

I agree with just about everything you said except, don't 4 and 5 contradict each other? Hackett will have his own scheme which in theory will be another playbook for Blake to run and a new system for him to master.

Although Hackett knows Blake and can hopefully make one that suits Blake perfectly, we don't really know.

Pretty much what you just said at the end answers it.

Hackett knows Blake. He wasnt the guy that could work and do what he thought was best for Blake til Olsen got fired. He knows what he does well and what he doesnt. He will bring his playbook and do what best fits him instead of Olsen who forced his system on Blake AND told him not to work on mechanics which was his problem coming out of college.

Quote:Sounds like this talk is all for moot anyway.

Ben Albright on twitter just said after interviewing Chip the leader for the OC position is still Hackett.

I'm not yet sold on Hackett, but I'd much rather see him stay put than Kelly take over.

Quote:Chip isn't the right fit for any NFL team. His offense was different, when he first entered the league, but when teams caught on to what he was doing, he didn't change anything. He kept doing the same thing over and over and it wasn't working anymore. A smart coach would've adapted and made the necessary changes. You can get away with that gimmicky stuff in college, but not in the NFL.

Chip requires a very specific quarterback, and that quarterback is in Tennessee.

All good points. He's truly an intriguing character with a fascinating offensive mind, but I just don't know that he's out-smarting someone like Belichick just yet. That said, I'm fine with Hackett short of finding an offensive mind with a proven track record calling plays. I understand those saying Norv Turner might be that guy, but I really do question the way he quit and I just don't know.

Turner be interesting so would Kelly. But Hackett excited to see what he could bring to the table.

I'd honestly be happy with any of the three. They all have their pros and cons, but I could justify almost any of the hirings.
Coughlin when asked if winning will be a focus: "What the hell else is there? This is nice and dandy, but winning is what all this is about."

Hackett sux to be honest. He's the freaking qb coach and Blake is throwing ducks, pick sixes and fumbling like crazy yet this guy all of a sudden deserves a promotion? Hell naw.

The suspense for the next hire of brutal. But it's good to know they're going through their due diligence to get the person they envision as the best fit. Can't not be a fan of that

No deal yet.  That favors Hackett.

Also, do you really think Chip wants to take a job in which all of his assistants have been selected ?  I can't see Chip taking a job and him being told this is your RB coach, this is your WR coach, this is .....

Well that's kinda how it is when you're just the offensive coordinator

We could also keep Hackett around as the QB coach if we decide to hire Kelly as the OC.

You do realize Hackett has very little to do with any of that. Especially once the season gets going. His main job is to make sure Blake and the other QBs are prepared for the game.
