Yannick is bad against the run.

As a rookie he started out bad against the run and slowly got better at it.  He'll be fine. 

 

But it was a fair assessment in his scouting reports to say he struggled at times defending the run.  

 

His amount of pressure as a rookie more than made up for his being blocked out of a few dozen run plays that were mostly well defended by his teammates.

Ah yeah he'll be grand. Not a big worry when he shows he can rush and bend like that. Telvin and Poz make up for it.

The only knock on Allen is the two shoulder surgeries and rumors of needing a 3rd already. He is pretty bulletproof as an on the field evaluation.

If they do draft Hooker, what will they do with Gipson? He had a disappointing season, but will the organization be willing to just let him go after paying him all that money? 

Keep them both, I am sure we can find a way to use them, maybe 2 deep safeties on obvious passing downs? Maybe, Maybe not but if the organization evaluated Hooker and thinks he is the next Ed Reed, you take it and make it work. You don't turn down that kind of talent unless you have someone else in mind.

I stress again, if the Chiefs fail to sign Berry, the obvious choice is to bail on Odrick and throw the house on Berry and draft Adams. if not, im cool with Hooker he is a ball hawk. But a defensive disguise of Berrry and Adams, listen... Tom Brady would be shaking.... it would be that good.

The NFL is a money league. You've signed Gipson to almost a 40 million dollar contract over 5 years and he hasn't showed you any real reason to bail on him after one season. You've committed at that point. Take a player where need meets value. Fournette for a RB, Adams for SS, etc.

On one hand I completely agree.  On another, I think we need to look further down the road here.  It's a plausible scenario that we're talking a year from now and Gipson has an average season and Hooker is looking like a potential elite safety in the league.

 

That being said, if we have similar grades on Adams or Fournette and think they have similar ceilings, then yes that's probably the best route to go.

Well besides the funny way of explaining it - I stand by my statement. The more I read about Allen and the more I watch him, the more he looks like a Tyson Alualu. Solid, versatile, but won't make an elite impact in the pass game. Will probably be a very good player but I would pass on him in the top 5. If you're picking 14th or something? Sure go for it.

Allen is nowhere near the prospect Joey Bosa was or Leonard Williams was, for example. I don't think he's on that level. I would not draft him in the top 5, and I actually doubt he will get drafted that high.

Yeah Garrets the only guy I'd draft ahead of him. Its a pretty elite pass rushers draft. Tons of depth.

Now this I am sure is debatable but Allen to me is a better prospect than leonard williams and thats no slight to williams. I think hes very good and i had him rated very high, but allen is a level above him in my book.

that's fair - but Williams has the length that Allen can only dream of.  He also looks more "sudden" to me, and especially at that size which is pretty impressive.  I guess we will see how they measure up at the combine, but that's what it just appears like to me.

Fair enough. Everyone's eyes see different things. I know from playing defensive end and defensive tackle for almost 20 years I usually have a better feel for those kinds of prospects and to me, Allen is just a bonifide stud on the line. I'd rate him as a prospect higher than guys like Leonard Williams, Sheldon Richardson, Fletcher Cox...Probably my highest rated DT in 5 years.

that's good.  I am very glad many people find him to be great - the more studs we have at the top, the more likely the Jaguars getting a stud will be.

Allen would also be a really good 3-4 end. Maybe even better there than a 4-3 DT.
