LSU safety Jamal Adams had an 8.9% missed tackle rate this year. Alabama LB Reuben Foster had a missed tackle rate of 12.2%.

This isn't a knock on Foster. Just a demonstration of how dominant Adams was, despite having to make tackles in space more often in his role

Keanu Neal missed 17.5% of his tackles at Florida last year while playing in a similar role to Adams, and was still a 1st rd pick of Falcons
it shows on tape. I said before he's like a magnet to the football. He flies all over the field

Adams > Hooker

Hooker is good, but I feel like he got lucky on a few of his "highlight" plays, which is making him stand out a bit more. Still have to watch more tape of them, but those are my initial quick thoughts between the 2. Adams flies all over the place.

Hooker is more raw and hasn't been playing the position very long.  I'd be happy with either though.  Adams has a higher floor IMO.

I honestly think Garrett is overrated, look at him vs good oline (Alabama, Tennessee) he looked average at best. I really don't understand the hype.... Now as far as Hooker Or Adams, they are both awesome and would be a great pick, hooker is a FS and Adams is a SS. Gipson is better than Cyp and Gipson is a FS so with that being said, Adams would be a more logical choice between those 2. Adams reminds me of bob sanders, dude shows out against top schools too (was all over the field vs Alabama)

It's really as simple as if we run a cover 2 or cover 3, if we go cover 2 it's Hooker if we stay cover 3 it should be Adams. Wash has more of a history with Cover 2 in Tampa than he did with Cover 3 in Seattle so it's not a given that the defense stays the way it is.

I think I would take Adams regardless.

Hooker reminds me of Jarius Byrd more so than Earl Thomas. Not a bad thing as Byrd has 9 INTs as a rookie just think I prefer Adams because he provides more.

Malik hooker has superstar potential imo

Peak potential is if you want Polamalu or Reed

If Cyp re-signs, does a player like Adams become less essential? (Even if he is better, is he so much better, he's worth the fourth overall pick?)

A similar question has to be raised for Hooker and Gipson.

I think Adams is better than Cyprien by a bigger margin than Fournette is over a healthy Ivory, if that helps.

Passing on Malik Hooker would be typical Jaguar buffoonery, you just don't pass on players with rare abilities.  Jamal Adams is a good player, but there are guys like him in every draft.  Just look at Keanu Neal or Landon Collins as of recent.  When was the last time a player with Hooker's ball skills, range, and instincts entered the draft? I don't think we take either of them though.

Edit: misread your post

Are you saying Collins caliber of safety is available in every draft?

I think he just means high level strong safeties like those two are regularly available later than 4th overall

Jamal Adams is trash idk how he is being mocked 4th overall when he is a 3-4th Rd in the box SS

Quote:You always take the best available player on the board. If you watch Hooker play, you see how special he is. The guy is drawing comparisons to Ed Reed. If he's there, we can't pass that up, even if we do have Gipson.

At #4, the BAP is not Malik Hooker. Yes, he is very good. Yes, he is special. But unless there are only three players better than him, he won't be #1 on our board.

Wow! Do I ever disagree with this statement. In fact, I couldn't possibly disagree more.
