Lets remember some people dont have the luxury of switching up their meals from time to time in a week. You eat what you can afford. For some people, if they get sick of McDonalds, they can always make that trip to the corner store or Family Dollar to purchase those salty hypertension chips, or diabates snicker bar, along with a fruit juice loaded with sugar.

Sounds like a personal responsibility problem to me.

I grew up dirt poor and was never subjected to a relentless diet of this stuff. However, I lived rurally so that may be the difference.

I cant compare growing up poor in rural, to urban life because I never experienced the rural way of living.

I did drink quite a bit of pickle juice, but not with ice. That's a new one for me.

 

The hoe cakes were a upgrade for us. 

 

One of the corner store guys kept pickle juice jars when he sold out the pickles for us all the time. If it was too salty, we would dilute it with water.

 

Ramen noodles mixed up with hot dogs with a side of Government cheese melting on top of the White rice was a favorite as well. 

 

I cant forget about the Oatmeal Sandwiches!!!!

And if any of us wanted to eat cheeseburgers every damn day you'd have a point. But personally I don't. For my personal comparison; I had a large Big Mac menu yesterday costing €7,25. For that price I can make a meal for a family of three at home. Four if I don't like my kids that much.

 

The Big Mac is such a rip off. 

 

They use the small hamburger patties for it, and put that gross thousand island gunk as sauce. 

 

Then you rarely if ever get it served hot, always lukewarm at best. 

 

What a bunch of crap. 

 

Just go to BK and get a freshly made double whopper. Much better.

The difference between a Big Mac and a Whopper is negligible.

 

BTW. The meal for three I mentioned cost me €6,60 in total, without the discount for the red bell pepper. That was a just a chicken tandoori meal but in the same price range (€7 to €10) I can make chicken madras, taco's, burrito's, pasta with red sauce, pasta with white sauce, teriyaki with either beef or chicken, couscous, pancakes (which are a dinner item over here) as well as a few other local meals that can truly fill a stomach for an entire evening. And for roughly €12 I can make a mean sub with smoked salmon, cucumber, tomatoes and lettuce. And all these meals can a feed 3 people whereas the Big Mac meal of the same price feeds just me.
